When it was 24-0 in the first half and Belichick was berating the entire offensive squad on the sidelines after a three and out, my wife said, "What's he yelling about?", I replied "No one will ever accuse Belichick of complacency.
Belichick doesn’t like to lose. That can be either a bad or a good personality trait, depending on the situation. One thing you have to give him for better or worse, he’s one of the best head coaches who ever commanded a team. He’s gonna be mentioned in the same breath as Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry in that regard. You gotta recognize greatness, whether you like him or not, and I’m ambivalent.
And apologies for not mentioning Chuck Noll.

They also have a very pro-management/anti-labor offering: if you play for us you will STFU but you'll probably get a SB ring at some point. That appeals to guys who want to win and doesn't appeal to locker room cancers, so that helps filter out showboaters and draw serious players.
There is also 3.5 months of football left to play. The Pats kinda fell apart last December so there is no need to turn off football and wait for spring training yet.

And they don’t have many decent opponents in their schedule. Baltimore in 2 weeks. Texans a few after that. Meanwhile though the way they’re just stomping on teams it’s hard to see them losing. Sure weak opponents but how many other teams that have faced those weak opponents have only allowed 3 total offensive touchdowns.
