Continental Tire opened its newest tire plant near Clinton, Mississippi, with a grand opening celebration. The celebration marks the completion of the construction process, which began in 2016. Approximately 300 guests, including state and local officials, community members, customers and supplier joined 250 Continental employees for the event.
The new plant is located on a 1,000-acre greenfield site in Hinds County, approximately two miles from Clinton and 20 miles from Jackson. Continental has committed nearly $1.4 billion and expects to employ 2,500 people when the plant reaches full capacity in the next decade.
“Mississippi welcomes Continental to our great state and looks forward to many years of job creation and synergy with the company,” said Governor Phil Bryant. “This advanced facility helps position our state and our people as champions of manufacturing excellence.”

Back in May, the Trump team had around 5.4-million jobs created. No doubt by end of year, it’ll be 6-plus million.
I saw a piece from CNBC in the past week on five states with lowest unemployment rate in 50 years (Ala, Cal, SC, NJ, and Ill). Ala presently sits at 3 percent and SC at 2.9 percent. Anyone wanting to work, merely needs to fill out a resume, put on clean clothing, and simply make the effort.
As I have said about the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex: If you can’t find a job here, dig a hole and jump into it.
Around 50 years ago I knew a little cutie from Clinton Mississippi. She was portrayed in a movie a few years ago by Virginia Madsen.
I give up. Who is she?
