I believe that amazon is more of an addiction than a necessity for many people
I live near stores and I am always able to get what I need. Weird, right?

More power to ya, but but but how did you stock your shelter, guy?

I live near a Menards and a Fleet Farm. If they don’t have it I don’t need it.

I live in a major metropolitan area. Similar to the previous poster, it is much more time efficient for me to shop online. Even for groceries that I pick up at the store, it is much easier and better use of my time to make a cart, and then pick up what I ordered than driving all over town in absurdly ridiculous traffic. Amazon fills the need of the other things that are not available locally, easily.
For home improvement needs, I place almost all of those orders online too. Pickup at store or delivery to house.

Cancelled my Amazon Prime membership several weeks ago due to their constant mis-routing of my packages. Last six deliveries were ON AVERAGE three days LATE. (That's two-day Prime "guaranteed" delivery + three days = FIVE Day Delivery. NOT TWO!)
I sent all six back. ON AMAZON.
Amazon Logistics SUCKS.

Upshot: the totality of the shipping industry is incapable of keeping up with Amazons delivery needs. Amazon itself is incapable. Google "Amazon Logistics reviews" and you'll see tens of thousands of complaints like mine. I'm just waiting for the class action lawsuit to start.

BACKHAUL PROBLEM
Any vendor that buys its own trucks and trailers becomes LESS EFFICIENT.
The problem is hauling an empty trailer back after delivery creates wasted fuel and higher costs. What if the only load back is a Walmart load? Would Walmart and competitors pay to ship their load inside an Amazon trailer?
Nope. Why does Walmart want to pay for an Amazon moving billboard on a trailer?
That is stupid. But Bob’s Carrier does not have that backhaul advertising problem.
Owning your own trailers is bad debt, bad costs for vendors.

Not many stores here in North Idaho. My aunt was a catalog shopper in the 60s in Ketchum, Idaho. There were almost no stores near them.
This is a big country. You folks in Manhattan get spoiled with lots of stores nearby.
