repubs fell for it

They didn't fall for it, they're in on it.

“Scratching my head why so many Rs, including Nunes and Scalise, voted for this slap in POTUS’ face.”

I can think of only one possible justification:

Over the next year, as the entire legislative branch gets dragged deeper and deeper into this partisan impeachment witch hunt, no one wants to be seen as partisan.

For the Democrats, the effort to appear nonpartisan will be entirely fraudulent, because this entire impeachment hoax is nothing but party politics. They can’t win on the issues, so they go on political witch hunts instead. But they can’t let the American people to know it’s a political coup, so they will construct narratives depicting their motives as nonpolitical, and depicting any Republican defense of the President as purely political. The DNC’s CNNABCCBSNBCNYT propaganda ministry will push these narratives for them 24/7.

For the Republicans, appearing nonpolitical will not be an act - there is nothing political about defending a duly elected president against an unconstitutional political attack. But for Republicans, demonstrating their nonpartisanship will be essential if they are to win credibility and trust with the American people. Democrats will be looking for every opportunity to discredit Republicans by casting them as party hacks, shamefully defending and justifying the President and his “criminal acts” out of political loyalty, just because he is a Republican. They have been doing this since day one, and will continue with the help of Anderson Cooper, etc..

That is why I expect to see Republicans (even some of the good ones) looking for opportunities to show they do not necessarily support President Trump just because he is a Republican. When push comes to shove, the Republicans need to be able to convince the American people that their defense of the President is based on principles, not politics. They need to point to some examples where they disagreed on substance and voted against him, rather than along party lines.

What better time to do this than a non-binding resolution regarding a disputed foreign policy decision?

Maybe I’m giving them too much credit - but it’s all I’ve got :-)

So be annoyed but somehow doing the same thing over and over and getting the same results doesn’t seem to be very productive and is actually the definition of insanity.

You asked again “what do I want to happen?”. Well my answer is probably way over your head but I will try to answer in very simple terms, I want Republicans to support our President. What is your problem?

Thank you for answering the question, now how does voting them out help?

If you want to support Trump, then support getting him majorities in Congress, because that’s what he wants. If you can primary RINO’s fine, but just because a repub votes on one issue in a stupid manner is no reason to let a country hating dem take the seat.

If one of the guys who participated in this embarrassing vote is your rep, then call his office and give him grief for it. Write letters. Put them on their heels if you want.

Saying an effort to get a Trump majority elected is the definition of insanity is nonsense and counterproductive. To answer your question, people with that attitude are my problem.

For the benefit of rintintin: As I alluded to earlier...

“This vote was a shameful act, and I’m frankly embarrassed to see the names of Texans like Kevin Brady, Dan Crenshaw and John Ratcliffe on the list of “yea” votes for this despicable, [ non-binding resolution ]. Here is why these were shameful votes: The U.S. Constitution grants Congress the sole power to declare war on another country. If these posturing, blustering politicians truly feel so horrified by the President’s decision to keep our country’s military personnel safe, and so strongly about siding with the Kurdish forces – who, by the way, regularly make incursions into Turkey against U.S. advice – then they need to man-up and hold a vote on a declaration of war.

[ Doing what they did on Wednesday is simply political posturing designed to allow them to go tell their voters that they bravely defied the President in a vote that in reality does nothing but provide political support for the Democrat Party. (that’s the stepping in poo part...)] It’s disgusting, and I had hoped that I would not see the three men listed above – whom I have held in high regard – engaging in this sort of political cowardice.”

Non-binding resolution! Political posturing... that in reality does nothing...! The demoRATS will run with this “support” they believe they have, and as usual, they will be overcome by events in the very near future that will confirm their utter currently in-process foolishness. Then more kabuki theater, humiliation and hurt feelings, run to the media’s cameras to get the lies out first! DemoRATS never, ever learn! They only know how to lie and obfuscate... it’s what they do!

“how many, both sides, get $$$ from military [Military Industrial Complex] linked donations
All of them. The MIC is carefully in every single congressional district.”

You got that right! This is EXACTLY what President Eisenhower cautioned and warned us about in the late ‘50’s! Treasonous corruption and graft will kick American patriotism’s ass every time!

In the past you might actually get a weapons system for the cash, however, expensive. And it might work. Now you just get paper studies and viewgraphs circulating inside the Beltway.

Trust me when I say “I’m more than well aware of that. I work in that field of endeavor.” Trust me, nowadays it’s more difficult for the military industrial complex to get more money while producing less... it all starts with the military’s requirements and it goes from there. For every little feature the government enumerates that they’d like to see incorporated into the package, the costs of producing said features goes up and up and up. Back in the 50’s thru early 70’s you could get away with dump truck loads of cash going to the contractors, but it’s not so easy anymore. Now everything has to justified and tested and competed. Sure, a B21 bomber is going to cost you a metric butt tonne of money, you’re damned right... you want a bomber that can do all of that stuff you required...? That plane probably has several million pieces and parts that have to be designed and manufactured from the ground up. Think it’s easy? You build one. Remember, it has to meet all of your requirement and milspecs... no shortcuts or extra dollars when you screw up the process.

It’s not like in a video game where you cafeteria pick and choose features that just somehow magically show up in a finished product. Don’t believe me? Go to Lowe’s and buy everything you need to make a “stealth shed” in your backyard, and remember it has to meet the milspecs when you’re done. Try to keep that on time and under budget... I dare ‘ya!

I am incredibly sympathetic to the problems of the folks who design and manufacture military hardware. The real corruption and skim comes here inside the beltway as money is taken off the top by non value adding Beltway bandits.

True, unless they get caught and called on it.

You’re right on the money; it’s all about graft. Two of the RINO’s on the list that I know of (in closely bordering Congressional districts - though in two different states) each have contractor operated Government funded ammunition plants in their districts. I wonder how they would like their family members and friends’ sons/daughters going to Syria to defend the Kurds. These individuals are merely fornicating grifters. To hades with the voters.
