Donald Trump is president. He may not be a very good one, but he won an election. And no amount of irresponsible commentary from his defeated opponent will change that.
The fact that Trump received nearly 3 million fewer total votes than Hillary Clinton doesnt make him any less our president under the constitutionally prescribed Electoral College system. And the fact that Russia attempted to influence the 2016 election with a preference for Trump something reports from special counsel Robert Muller and both Republicans and Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee have found does not, on its own, obscure Trumps legitimacy, either.
If we let that type of nefarious foreign activity undermine the legitimacy of a duly-elected chief executive, without conclusive evidence that his or her campaign colluded in that activity, then all an adversary has to do is try to influence our election with the goal of helping one candidate, get caught, and then our whole system starts to unwind. Its an incredibly slippery slope to go down, particularly right now.
In the midst of an impeachment debate, when Democrats are extolling the undoubted virtue of the Constitution and the rule of law, its dangerous for one of their most visible figures and in particular, the very person who lost the election to be asserting that Trumps 2016 victory was illegitimate.
When Clinton said in an interview with PBS last week that obviously I can beat [Trump] again, she played into the dubious notion of Trumps 2016 win not counting. And though she indicated she was joking in that case, its hard to take the comment in jest when, less than two weeks ago, she asserted on CBS that Trump is an illegitimate president.

Good God, I can’t even get past that headline!
Why even put such a stupid article in here???
“And the fact that Russia attempted to influence the 2016 election with a preference for Trump ”
A sphincter says what?
0bama was HORRIBLE but... he won the election.
Did you actually read it?
Whoever wrote this has to be an idiot or listens only to the main stream news outlets.
Trump is a pro American President; Obama was not.
Steaming pile of Adam Schiff.
Donald J. Trump, best president since George Washington!
Yes, even better than Reagan, whom I voted for twice.
They have bought the drivel about Russia, but they are right about Trump having won the electoral college. He put more points on the scoreboard than Hillary did. She ran up a few more yards, but that’s not how the game is scored.
“Donald Trump is president. He may not be a very good one, but he won an election.”
I wonder if they would have said the same thing about Carter or LBJ?
Putin expected Hillary to win and probably preferred that outcome...more appeasement Obama-style. If he did spend some money on pro-Trump Facebook ads it may have been to cause a little mischief for Hillary...and there is no evidence a single vote was changed. The Russian influence on Hillary's behalf seems to have been far more significant.
Why would Putin want Trump over his uranium saleswoman?
That’s one sure way of convincing me not to read past the headline!
I first read what came up here...The second and third paragraphs were total Bull Shit!!!!!
After you ask me if I read it all, I went back and read it...It’s full of the same BS...
