That late-night kebab might be considered a guilty pleasure, but could it one day be seen as a crime against the planet? Will the time come when the only means of procuring a slab of Aberdeen Angus is from a dodgy dealer with a cool box? The barrister Michael Mansfield has suggested that we should have new laws against ecocide practices that destroy the planet and that under them, meat could be targeted. I think when we look at the damage eating meat is doing to the planet, it is not preposterous to think that one day it will become illegal, he said.
A study last year by researchers at the University of Oxford, published in the journal Nature, showed meat and dairy produces 60% of agricultures greenhouse gas emissions and takes up 83% of farmland, but delivers just 18% of calories and 37% of protein.
A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use and water use, said Joseph Poore, who led the research.

One of the news stories of the past years I most enjoyed was the leaking of one of Michelle Obama’s hotel bills, (all paid for my us, of course,) at the time she was going about the business of reducing calorie intake for our nations schoolchildren.
(Somehow this made her a hero.)
On the bill: all sorts of extremely expensive and fattening foods, the best of everything - lobsters, steaks, champagne, desserts - truly a Marie Antoinette diet.
This is what they do - like the (200?) Private jets that crowded the climate conference at Davos...
Where our superiors tell us how to live, what to eat, how to move, control our food supply...
It’s been the same since the Supreme Soviet, and the left, for some reason, still loves it.
Guess what’s on the menu here...
Precisely. And it will start in the schools.
I was once a waiter at a Bilderberger summit, since the regular waiters don’t have security clearances. Unbelievable food.
Maybe its a just an anti-’Spam’ protest group and it was a typo meant to say “Should meat be canned?”
I don’t mind corned beef hash in a can. Fry it up with some eggs. That’s good eatin’!
Should morons like Emine Saner be writing in the media? That SHOULD be the question!
Meat is an easy source of protein. Eliminate it and the human race dies out. Our superior intelligence was possible because of abundant protein.
Stop raising animals for food and we’ll have to cover the planet with wheat and corn farms, and we still won’t have enough protein.

What happens to pet food?
Be careful, Rock Hudson died from bad meat in the can...
It wouldn’t surprise me if there were a secret cabal of cows behind all this......
Wine and beer... I wonder if the slimes from the Islamic nations drink it...
They intend to rid the Earth of the Carbon-based Infestation.
I think Ill pick up a steak for dinner tonight.
Take that Gaia!
Meat? Moi? LOL! I lost all of it in that Tragic Chest Freezer Incident last week.
You know - the same way I lost my guns and gold in that Tragic Boating Accident a few years back?
When Meat is Outlawed, Only Outlaws Will Have Meat!
