Should meat be banned to save the planet?

That late-night kebab might be considered a guilty pleasure, but could it one day be seen as a crime against the planet? Will the time come when the only means of procuring a slab of Aberdeen Angus is from a dodgy dealer with a cool box? The barrister Michael Mansfield has suggested that we should have new laws against ecocide – practices that destroy the planet – and that under them, meat could be targeted. “I think when we look at the damage eating meat is doing to the planet, it is not preposterous to think that one day it will become illegal,” he said.

A study last year by researchers at the University of Oxford, published in the journal Nature, showed meat and dairy produces 60% of agriculture’s greenhouse gas emissions and takes up 83% of farmland, but delivers just 18% of calories and 37% of protein.

“A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use and water use,” said Joseph Poore, who led the research.

What utter tripe. They'll still be eating lobster, Chilean sea bass, Wagyu steak and caviar while we're left with insects and soy.

Should meat be banned to save the planet?

Only when it's employed by The Manchester Guardian.

Yes. Some people of great means are afraid that overpopulation, some natural climate changes that only come once in a great while (*not* caused by mankind) and other occurrences might deprive them of some resources. If those resources are outlawed, the overly concerned rich folks expect to continue getting those resources. But other well-to-do people are more like Americans, aren’t so neurotic and continue to prefer freedom for everyone.

Fact is, a vegetarian diet that can provide adequate nutrition without detrimental effects is an expensive diet that requires much time for planning, acquiring particular foods and preparations. Many vegetarians have eventually suffered from malnutrition and have been told by their doctors to resume consumption of meat.

I don’t even like to pronounce the word, vegan, by the way (long _E_). Try saying it several times with much emphasis. Too weird.

“Should meat be banned to save the planet?”

Only if the meat has a “D” after his/her name. If so, then yes; definitely ban from planet.

Romans 14:2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.

1 Timothy 4:3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.

Yes. Meat should be banned.
However, this proposition is much too modest. Why stop at meat? No! Let's be really bold and save the planet much more by banning ALL agricultural products. And while you're at it, don't let those pesky hunter-gatherers off the hook either. Let's ban food altogether.

If we're really sincere about saving this wonderful planet, let's mandate the eating of dirt. Hey! if it's good enough for the magnificent earthworm...

Beef, It’s what’s for dinner.

Beef, It’s what vegans eat when they cheat.

The only meat I want to see banned is the meat within the progressive bags that contain it.

What, no pork?? I'm sure pigs fart too. Chicken?? I don't think chickens fart (who could tell...only another chicken), but they LOVE corn.

As these journalists are still human, they are carrying meat around with them everywhere, the monsters. I sentence them to immediate death be being fed to hogs.

I’ve often said that compulsory veganism will be the next jihad of the progressive movement. Over the next 20 years, look to see the cultural and media establishment push to make meat eating first socially unacceptable, and then when society is sufficiently brow beaten, illegal. in a generation or two politicians photographed eating a cheeseburger decades prior will be forced to give press conferances offering tearful apologies for eating meet, protesting that they lived in ‘different times’, for what good it will do them (unless they are progressives too useful to be hectored from office by the neopuritan establishment).
