Instead, the president said he would prioritize well-off citizen-seekers with job offers or job creation ideas.

No bias here!

True. But if there was not the free flow of funds, the US would suffer worse. Over the past ten years Europeans were anxious over the fate of the euro and the financial uncertainties about the EU economy and access to their funds deposited in EU banks. Wealthy nouveau rich Chinese are in constant fear that their wealth will be confiscated by their government. the result has been a huge inflow of money from Asia and Europe into the security of the US. The US has a constitution, the rule of law and up to now has protected private property from arbitrary confiscation. They have bought stocks, bonds, and real estate especially pricey properties in LA, Chicago, New York and throughout the US. If it were not for this capital infusion, instead of growing 1% during the Obama years, the economy would have contracted. Again either you believe Milton Friedman or you don’t. Do not mess with the free flow of capital.

The Chamber of Commerce Republicans do have an economic point. If these migrants truly want to work, then they are overall a plus for the economy. The greater question and the discussion that political correctness makes impossible, is that there is no question that huge migrations of peoples from the third world will forever alter American culture. Now is that really good or is it really bad for America. Judging on what is really happening in Europe, it does not appear to be a good thing overall.

“No. We’re full.”

That works, too.

This doesn’t seem much change from under the past 5 Presidents.

Both citizens and legal immigrants of Mexican ancestry have the lowest rate of taking welfare to whichy they are “entitled”. It should be remembered that they are often low wage earners and that is why they “qualify”.

In my experience, pride is the key obstacle, not fear. Go to a bar or meeting where social workers hang out and one of their biggest complaints is that the “underserved” just don’t understand that they can be proud to be on welfare.

There are some corrallaries.
Those of Mexican ancestry have the highest percentage of uninsured. They are eligible for Medicaid but don’t take it. In the Mexican neighborhood there are doctors or clinics where you pay cash.

Yet those of Mexican ancestry have the best infant and maternal death rates of any demographic group. They have the longest longevity at the other end. As they become Americanized their statistics tend worse...toward the white stats.

Those on Medicaid have the worst infant and maternal death and longevity stats of any demographic group.

Medicaid for All.

> But if there was not the free flow of funds, the US would suffer worse.

An article of faith not supported by the facts on the ground.

Simplify the problem. It cannot be that a large sum of money leaving the country is a good thing. Unless the offsets can be particularly identified, this money is lost to the economy.

> If these migrants truly want to work, then they are overall a plus for the economy.

Another article of faith that you should dispose of at the nearest receptacle. These third worlders take more in subsidies and welfare alone than their labor justifies, and that’s not even taking into account all the negative downstream consequences of their presence - displacement, disease, strain on infrastructure and services, crime, social conflict, and of course voting for Democrats unlawfully by the millions.

That is so sad. Those criminals should go back home where they can eat, live, and find free medical care without fear of being held accountable for their crimes. We should be compassionate enough to send those invaders home, where they can live without fear.
