I suggested putting illegals to work building the wall in chain gangs decades ago.
One of the most stupid and ridiculous articles I have ever seen in my 16 years on FR.
Why pay foreigners when you can hire unemployed Americans, who would do a better job anyway?
Yeah. Like a lack of labor is the problem.
Davis Bacon requires union labor. Amazing how many dumb ideas come from those who know nothing about construction.
This is the stupidest article of the day - even though the day is young, the competition is closed.
How ‘dat work out for Rome?
Chain gangs.
In 2005, Charleston SC had a new bridge open. I know two people who quit construction on it because working with illegals scared the crap out of them. In an earthquake, that bridge is the last place I want to be.
Stuff like this is a mainstay during FReepathons.
It seems that crap is better than fundraising attempts.
So Cartels can add their own cameras and sensors and
jammers and thumpers... Stage FFun incidents...
Yeah, that's the ticket!"
Hes not suggesting that the Great Depression was caused by limiting immigration, is he?
I totally agree. This is an idiotic remark. WHY would we want to encourage more illegal criminal invaders to come here by offering them work? And, did the stupid author ever consider deliberate sabotage by these people on the wall? Making it deliberately weak in spots that they then sell access to?
Love the meme!
Not hire them to build the wall, but force them to do menial labor on it as the sentence for their attempt to invade; then when it is finished, thrust them out to the other side with a permanent sentence of never setting foot inside the boundaries of the U. S. A. forever thereafter.
In the late 80s at a management dinner/meeting sponsored by a DoD contractor, a representative of the boarder patrol spoke to about 200 attendees about the 400,000 illegals that were caught crossing the border that year. He had no statistics on the number that were not apprehended. He went on to say that the best deterrent was to erect a wall and a twenty by twenty foot trench to run its length. The burden on the US citizens was becoming unbearable. We as tax payers were picking up the tab for all the welfare extended to the illegals that made it through.
During the Q&A, a attendee ask why the feds were not forcing the apprehended to construct the barrier and dig the moat. The answer: We couldnt do that. It would be considered forced indentured slavery. At that the entire room groaned in unison. It was not okay to force criminals to pay for their crime but okay to force us as tax paying citizens of good standing to be enslaved by our government to support them as well.
Put them to work to build the wall. When they have paid their fine in hours of labor, then kick their sorry asses out.
Yup, it is a stupid article. Its not a brick and mortar wall requiring thousands of hands to build.
Yall need to do a search on the current construction process. They aint using bricklayers.
Sure because no specific skills are needed right? Companies bidding don’t have employees? Oh well if we don’t care about quality should be fine. No harm giving more American jobs to illegals either. /s
You don’t need to hire them. Just put them to work as they cross the border..
