Idris Elba Says #MeToo Is Only a Problem for 'Men With Something to Hide'
Reason ^ | December 17, 2018 | Robby Soave

British actor and 2018 "sexiest man alive" Idris Elba recently told The Sunday Times that the #MeToo movement is "only difficult if you're a man with something to hide." Vanity Fair contrasted Elba's uncompromising stance with remarks made by Matt Damon and Henry Cavill, who both had to walk back their criticisms of #MeToo's potential excesses and their perceived sympathy for accused men.

Valerie Jarrett and Shonda Rhimes tweeted praise for Elba. Essence said his answer was "perfect."

Is #MeToo only a problem for men who have something to hide? I doubt Aziz Ansari—who was smeared in the pages of babe.net because of a bad date involving some misinterpreted cues—would agree. Or Stephen Henderson, the first black editor of The Detroit Free Press' opinion pages, who lost his job for vaguely-defined inappropriate behavior that had generated zero complaints. (My colleague Shikha Dalmia called this a clear case of #MeToo run amok.)

Dont think because a lot of women find you “hot” now, Idris, that you haven’t already set your #MeToo in motion.

Why would they name their movement “Pound Me Too”?

No, the #MeToo is a serious problem for the normal women in this society.

Thanks to #MeToo, men will be avoiding women, in professional and social settings.

You cannot force socialization, anymore than you can force hiring. In both cases, the “opening” can be eliminated and we men will learn to do without.

Great job, bitches!

So you can make a claim and have no evidence and turn someones life upside down. Seems fair.

Another topic, who loves a good apple pie and ice cream? #MeToo

Kinda like the 4th amendment is only a problem for those with something to hide. ;)

These people really are not very smart. They just aren’t.

pound me too is the worst thing that ever happened to women.

Men in the workplace are avoiding women in ALL 1:1 situations

Men are refusing to mentor women 1:1. They insist there be a woman present at all meetings. Men will not meet with women outside the workplace in any casual environment.

I have had a response to a similar post where a guy said he wont even make eye contact with women. And that is the best advice for men.

I can tell you that a few years ago I had an (attractive) new hire I spent time — a drink after work, completely professionally but gently friendly, where I advised and mentored her. Inside of 6 months she took my advice and was promoted. Today — NO WAY. She stays an entry level for years or more. I was giving her 40 years of experience.

The pound me too means that women will be with women and frankly, women still don’t understand how to balance drive with humility. Driven women come across as bitches because they are bitches. Frequently with a chip on their shoulder.

And of course we have MGTOW. Which reduces women to one night stands (with legal documents). Millennial women will probably be barren until it is too late. I hear that 40-something single straight guys (even ugly ones) are loving the attention they are getting from the ball-busting women who decided they would advance their career and just screw men as entertainment.

Ladies: It is STILL a man’s world.

Democrats need mind numb robots. Obama was great for race relations too. Until the voters turned on the Democrats. Most women have the common sense to see this movement is very bad for them and the theory about a rape culture was just a manufactured narrative.

The only problem with that logic is that the “something to hide” is being constantly redefined by juxtaposing contemporary values on previously accepted practices.

Elba is a great actor, but he's dead wrong. #MeToo appears to be a cudgel for feminists to beat down all men.

Harvey Weinstein apparently got brainless starlets to agree to sex for opportunities in Hollywood, and therefore the rest of us must all be berated, lectured to and threatened by feminist harridans who have never been at risk of sexual harassment by anyone at any time of their lives.

Remember, women don’t lie about rape ... unless they accuse a Clinton or other very powerful Leftist.

This isn’t about believing women, it’s just a new take on the seriousness of the charges (going only one way) that has been a central DNC doctrine since even before Tip O’Neil uttered the phrase in relation to accusations that Poppy Bush flew to Paris in an SR71 to meet with Iranians so that they would keep the hostages till after the election.

... yes, “collusion” is a contrived Democrat talking point from the days of Reagan too.

Basically how to read a room and how to see opportunities when they are not clearly presented. Foe people in the industry for a while these are obvious but newbies don’t see it.

For example: “the cheapest engagements are add ons.” I told her to keep an eye out for areas in a project where the client doesn’t have resources which could provide a large result for a realtively small investment.

She saw that the client was wasting a lot of time doing data collection and correlation without the skills needed. She suggest to the PM that we propose a small team to do those functions and apply the deep background my (then) company had in analytics to do what they were trying. She and I had a follow-up conversation when she saw this and I helped her frame the proposal to the PM.

The client agreed, we got the contract, she got the promotion. I got nothing tangible except the knowledge I helped her along in her career.

Thanks to pound me too none of these conversations would have happened.
