If you want a majoritarian democracy just get rid of the current Congress, POTUS, and SCOTUS and replace it with a parliament. We can even invite the British monarch to become head of state of the Kingdom of America and send over Harry and Meghan to serve as Governor-Generals.

The only good thing I can say about Dingell is that he was almost always on the right side of the Second Amendment, and usually had an A+ rating from the NRA.

Somehow I suspect if the Senate was Democrat and Congress was Republican that hed be calling for the abolishment of the Senate.
Regardless theres a certain amount of truth - the Senate, and envisioned, was the House of Lords - beholden to the states. Congress was beholden to the people. Making the senate members elected directly was stupid and made the house redundant.

What Dingell wants is a totalitarian one party Leftist state and I am sure VOX agrees with him.

To partially fix Congress, don't let one family totally own the voter slaves on their (Congressional District) Plantation given to them by TPTB for at least the last 86 years....

“John Dingell knows a thing or two about how Congress works”
The headline says otherwise.

Sure. This is how it starts.
Abolish the Senate, then call for a “new Constitution”.
Then they can have the “People’s Republic of America”, with complete one party (Democrat) control.
Once they flood the country with the same mindless stupid people that turned their own countries into Banana Republics, the stage will be set.

Dingle is close. Abolish the 17th amendment and we are on our way to better government.

Abolish the Senate, then call for a new Constitution. No. Youd have to change or replace the constitution first.

No. Youd have to change or replace the constitution first.

It can be done. You just need 2/3’s of both houses of Congress and it must be ratified by only 50 states.

Anyone else think that calling for the abolition of the Senate just after the Republicans increased their majority in that chamber is a bit suspicious?
To: C19fan
Senate can only be fixed by getting back to the State Legislators selecting the US senators.
The whole point was that state senators would represent the make up of the state legislature (i.e. all the precincts in the state having equal representation). It was never intended to be a popular vote where the big cities win/decide for the whole state.

Dingle and Barry go together like pain and ass.

LOL, I know what you mean, but I think you meant to say "If the house was Republican and the Senate was Democrat, they would be calling for the abolition of the House..."

Just a quiblle. The Congress consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate. When you write ‘Congress’, I think you mean ‘House of Representatives.’
