Boston gangster James ‘Whitey’ Bulger Jr. has been killed behind bars shortly after he was transferred to a federal prison in West Virginia. He was 89.
Bulger was found dead overnight on Tuesday at USP Hazelton, a high-security prison with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp in Bruceton Mills.

As I understand it this man had threatened the life and family of a nurse who had to deal with him. If he was still swanking around playing the big shot and threatening people who had to deal with him like that nurse, he might have had a conspiracy against him but it might have been much lower down and more immediate. They say he got into profane shouting matches with Flemmi too. I wouldn’t automatically jump to Mueller just because he could totally have exploited that connection long before now.

there’s no doubt about it: a sick, dying 89 year old man whose been hiding out from the FBI for 17 years and then in prison for 7 more years clearly must have maintained contacts at the highest levels of DOJ and FBI officials ... on the other hand, maybe FR has simply turned into a cesspool of ridiculous conspiracy theories ...

More likely that he pissed off the guy that killed him. Being old is no protection if you’re an obnoxious jerk like Bulger was.
If Bulger wasn’t talking about Mueller before, why now? It’s not like he could get any deal worth the paper at this point in time.

I mean, is anyone really surprised that when you spend your entire life inflicting pain and suffering on innocent people for personal gain that your ending might be a horrible form of karma for an evil life?

Whitey had two FBI agents basically join the Winter Hill Gang. They would alter reports to make it look like was an extremely valuable informant, but it seems like they weren’t giving him much. IIRC one member of the gang had said “They gave us gold, we have them s#!t.”
This would have been, say, 80’s, early 90’s. I’m unsure there’s any evidence it went that far up the ladder.
