Google Rejects Marsha Blackburn Ad Because It Shows Democrats In A Bad Light
redstate ^ | October 31, 2018 | streiff

On Sunday, Marsha Blackburn, who is running for the Senate seat vacated by empty suit Bob Corker against Democrat former governor Phil Bredesen, held a rally with recently discovered conservative rock star Lindsey Graham. This was the day after the massacre of eleven worshipers at a Pittsburgh synagogue and Blackburn asked for a moment of silence. That isn’t what she got.

Naturally, as Republicans have been pushing the “Democrats stand for mobs not jobs” theme (FACT CHECK: True since at least 1968), Blackburn cranked out ads showing the flower of the Democrat party in full bloom

All was well until they tried to run it on Google ads. Google decided that showing Democrats in their natural setting was too unsettling.

Blackburn’s campaign was planning to promote its ads, which it titled “Stop The Mob,” on Google’s various platforms and services, but Google would not approve them due to “shocking content,” the email from Google Ads said.

Sadly, this is not the first time that this has happened to either Blackburn or to Republican candidates.

In 2017, Twitter blocked Blackburn from running a pro-life ad. Twitter and Facebook have blocked ads by GOP congressional candidate Elizabeth Heng because her ads show images of the Khmer Rouge genocide. It seems that the social media moguls get all soily-diaper when you criticize abortion or communism…or Democrat mob rule.

More and more it is becoming clear that Google–and Twitter–and Facebook–is acting as a publisher by imposing editorial standards on content and demanding the protections granted it as a “platform” under the Communications Decency Act. And more and more it is becoming obvious that their decisions are cutting exactly in one direction. There is no reason President Trump or the FCC or the Justice Department should allow this to happen. What you’re seeing from our own social media is much more pervasive that anything emanating from Moscow or Beijing and it has an actual impact on our elections.

As a thought experiment, just look around to see who covers this story.

@EmeraldRobinson BREAKING: Source tells me that NeverTrumper mags took cash from top Internet company to suppress stories of bias against conservatives & Trump supporters. Audio recording of top tech executive explaining strategy has leaked to major newspaper.

@EmeraldRobinson My source adds: "Once this story is out, these people will never recover. They were getting paid to ignore the discrimination against their fellow conservatives essentially. Or write pieces claiming there was no need for legislation protecting free speech on media platforms." 4:11 PM - Oct 30, 2018

Crux of the argument.

Are you a publisher (responsible for content) or a provider (responsible for transmission), or can you enjoy the benefits of both without the drawbacks/restrictions of either? They seem to get the benefits.

If only we had an Attorney General and an IRS who would pursue such things.

Don’t get too enamored of the seemingly “new” Flimsey Grahamnesty.

He’ll be backing amnesty after his next election.

The National Review crowd would tell Marsha to suck it up and start her own Google. Of course they’re psychotic, not to mention the definition of losers.

The social media are not trying to hide it. They have gone over 100% to the side of the democrats. They are using their facilities in the service of the left.

So cake bakeries can ask people to pay to join up for a one time service, and of course members will be subject to a carefully crafted “terms of service” ?

The members get to make their own web page complete, with symbols and messages and other do-dads for their cake?

That page will then be 3-D printed in frosting onto a delicious cake, which will be delivered to the event or wedding of their choice?

It would seem fine, of course, that only certain messages be permitted on those web pages waiting to be communicated to cakes?

For example, the bakery could disallow all messages which offend fundamental Christians?

If the message is offensive (and the bakery will be the judge of course), the member will be notified, and his or her web page deleted, and the cake never printed?

This will probably be done at the last moment before an event, often after stringing the member along hiding the printer software (shadow banning it) until right before the event, say, an election? (That way, even more trouble can be made for that term-of-service-violating scum now former member.)

The baker will also be sure to complain to the the member’s credit card company and boss about how offensive they were with their request for a cake message; and ask that the credit card be cancelled and the member be fired from his or her job? Those extra steps will all be fine under the terms of service?

Yeah, that’s the ticket!

And that is just a normal thing that even disgusting vindictive government facilitated monopolies are allowed to do all they want, and it is not violating anyone’s civil rights?

Right?

Except apparently when it is a Christian bakery, or an uncensored internet center promoting free speech, or any thoughts promoting orthodox Americanism.

RE:”Except apparently when it is a Christian bakery, or an uncensored internet center promoting free speech, or any thoughts promoting orthodox Americanism.”

That's an evolving legal situation right now.

The way its explained is that businesses have the right to reject customers for any reasons they want except those specifically forbidden by laws.

Examples: Race, gender, religion, sometimes (but not usually) political opinion, ....
