I actually don't care so much myself as I can't remember the last time I actually watched a ballgame. I've been to a few ballgames over the past few years as my company has luxury boxes at multiple stadiums in which we entertain important clients. But all we do at those games is drink heavily, eat lots of food and talk to each other without paying all that much attention to the game on the field.
I used to be a fan. Back in the 1970s, as a boy, I used to go to Fenway Park all the time. I had a paper route and then worked at a supermarket bagging groceries but I always had enough in my pocket to catch a game whenever I wanted. Back then, you could pay $1.75 to sit in the bleachers and for fifty cents more, you could get what was called a "grandstand pass" and find yourself any empty seat in the rest of the stadium or stand up in the SRO sections.
I've moved down to the New York City area since but I still follow those Boston Red Sox from the Internet. It's strange. I don't actually watch any of the games but I do always check the MLB scores and standings to see how everybody is doing. I'm not sure why I do that because I really don't care if they win or not. But I'm just curious nonetheless.
So how often does a team win 100 games during an MLB season? Turns out, not very often. According to the hated Wikipedia, in the 126 MLB seasons from 1892 to 2017, this has been done only 102 times.
Now bear in mind that there are still 16 games left to play for those Boston Red Sox. Even if they just go .500 for those games, they will finish with 108 wins. Now this puts them in more exclusive company. Only 11 teams have ever done that!
Now lets suppose the Boston Red Sox do a little better than .500 ball and win 10 of the next 16 games. That will give them 110 wins for the season and only FIVE teams have ever done that over the past 126 years! Should the Boston Red Sox do the near impossible and win all 16 remaining games, they will join the ranks of the 1906 Chicago Cubs and the 2001 Seattle Mariners of having the best major league season EVER.
I know that most of you don't care. Even I don't care that much. But I thought I'd just point that out.
Amazing how much more time I have without watching those America hating millionaires playing a child's game
I care !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
Youre right...I dont care...gave up on MLB after the strike in the late 80s.
Curse of the Bambino is back. Sorry.
1986 Mets only had 108 - 54 .
And nearly blew it in Houston & VS Bosox. But for divine intervention & Buckner
You must be Irish(I am),-——that’s a looooong time to hold a grudge.

Yay Redsox!!
The Bleacher Bar has a great atmosphere. A favorite. Love being in the outfield during a game.
It’s BASEBALL, not football.
And no, attitudes and political beliefs are not common between the two sports. Not to say you can’t find anti-American baseball players. You’ll just find a much smaller percentage of them than in football.
Basically a once-a-century achievement.
Boston Red Sox can only match that by winning their final 16 games.
meaningless. everyone is 0-0 when the playoffs start.
Great team!
yes, a team winning 100 games hasn’t happened since . . . last season, when the Dodgers and the Astros both won over 100 games during the regular season.
There was a time when I cared, but all pro sports are uninteresting to me now.
You seem to have a problem with people having a little fun———lighten up.
.
One hundredth game - EVER?!
Theyre not exactly a new team, right?
JD Martinez, the best hitter in the game, is ferociously and unapologetically pro 2nd amendment.
They’ve been a very resilient team and easy to cheer for all year.
Go Sox!
Yeah, but I have a negative interest in baseball. My life is better without pro sports.
