Will Melania Trump let Barron keep Vladimir Putin’s soccer ball? Can she?
The Mercury News ^ | July 17, 2018 | Martha Ross

Under normal circumstances, the gift would delight any 12-year-old soccer fan: A ball used in the recent World Cup final.

But these were not normal circumstances. And the ball in question was presented by Russian President Vladimir Putin to President Donald Trump during a bizarre moment in what has been widely condemned as an embarrassing and diplomatically disastrous moment for Trump’s White House and for the United States.

Following a high-stakes summit in Helsinki Monday, Putin brought out a special red-and-white ball at his joint press conference with Trump. Putin handed the ball to his American counterpart, seemingly as a gesture of congratulating the United States for winning a bid to co-host the World Cup in 2026.

Grinning and looking a tad bashful — maybe because he forgot to bring a gift for Putin? — Trump congratulated Putin back on Russia’s “successful” efforts in hosting the World Cup.

Trump then announced he would give the ball to his youngest son, Barron.

“Melania, there you go,” Trump said, bouncing the ball to his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, sitting in the front row....

Clintons Return White House Furniture
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=121856&page=1

Former President Clinton and his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, have sent $28,000 worth of household goods back to Washington after questions arose over whether the items were intended as personal gifts or donations to the White House.

“We have been informed that it is being shipped back, and the National Park Service is ready to receive it, take possession of it and take custody of it,” Jim McDaniel, the National Park Service’s liaison to the White House, said Wednesday.

The ball belongs to President Trump.

If he wants to give it to Barron, he can do that.

The Daily Mail has the answer:

“Under federal ethics rules, the presents must be turned over to the government for storage or official use unless the recipient chooses to purchase the items from the General Services Administration. Few choose to do so.
One person who kept a gift was former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, according to the list.
Clinton was so taken with a black two-strand pearl necklace with gemstones given to her by Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi that she bought it for $970.”

Now if Hill could purchase the necklace for $970, the soccer ball shouldn’t be priced more than $5 or $10.

The value of the ball is probably less than $30. If it did have signatures on it...like the FIFA President’s signature....then it’s still worth just $30. Even with Putin’s signature...it’s still worth just $30.

It’d be a totally different case if this were a 1927 Yankees ball signed with Ruth’s signature.

These traitors are out to nullify YOUR VOTE, THE CONSTITUTION and YOUR PRESIDENT.
They want him out and are willing to use force.
And “they” are all the Democrats, the Republican Congress aside from the Freedom Caucus and the Educational Establushment.
The Republic is no longer in danger. It’s liquidating before your eyes.

Ah, heavy hitting modern journalism!
I’m sure Putin wants to listen in on a 12 year old’s conversations, or fill it with poison.
Was it a design unique to the World Cup? They could just discard it and get Barron one that looked the same if they’re worried.
And it seems unlikely the gifts clause was meant to include a frikkin soccer ball. These people are unhinged.

I think there are a lot of “journalists” who sit up a night with their crayons and construction paper thinking about what kind of manufactured crap they can write about Trump.

you know when i know the left and the media has lost it...??

when things like this is an issue...

why is it embarrassing exactly? putin gives trump a football and passing a ball since they will be running the tournament is just a business metaphor. if anything it shown putin is not a total knobhead. all he is doing is using the meeting as an advertisement for how they ran the tournament, which (and i aint a soccer guy) they ran exceedingly well.

jeeze in 12 months trump has defused the war in NK and is now defusing the russia tension. he has kicked the chinese in the nuts over trade and will no doubt cut a deal there also he has told nato to start paying for itself, told the wto and UN to stop driving around in a clown car and told merkel to go FH (i will let you figure that out). BUT the issue is a football...

Donald Trump... who "donates" his entire salary back to the US Treasury... I wonder if he wants the ball. Hmmmm?

Barron plays soccer. They fact that Barron was the first person OUR president thought about when given the gift is driving the left crazy. How dare he show his love for his son on the world stage.

If Baron gets the ball, the left will treat it as an impeachable offense. The Atlantic probably has six writers working on the story now.

It’s probably not. It’s a nice keepsake. Better some kid use it than sit with some bric-a-brac.
