Yes, It’s True: Peter Strzok Failed His Polygraph Yet Retained Security Clearance and Position…

[FULL TITLE] Yes, It’s True: Peter Strzok Failed His Polygraph Yet Retained Security Clearance and Position on Two Investigations…

I have been asked about this repeatedly:

Paul Sperry @paulsperry_ BREAKING: Strzok himself posed a national security risk while he was investigating Trump & his campaign aides for national security threats. Strzok flunked a 2016 internal polygraph by FBI, yet retained access to TS/SCI classified info & continued to run 2 major espionage probes 4:59 PM - 6 Jul 2018

Validating Paul Sperry’s tweet. Yes, FBI Agent Peter Strzok failed his polygraph and his supervisors were notified on January 16th, 2016, his results were “out of scope“. Meaning he failed his polygraph test. Yet he was never removed from any responsibilities; and against dept policy, he did not have his clearance revoked until he could clear.

This was discussed during the Rosenstein testimony and overlooked by most.

The question he messed up on was “Was the Hillary Clinton Email scandal fixed?” He said “No.”

To be fair, I thought they weren’t admissible in court due to people being able to spoof them?

Not to defend this joker or anything like that, but how reliable are those things? Are they accurate enough to fire someone over?
Just curious. I don't have much experience with such things and plan to stay that way. d;^)

Spoofing it means passing it despite lying during the exam. But this is a case where it did detect lying, so the question becomes, what is the subject matter about which Strzok was untruthful during the exam?

Current FBI officials, including Trump appointed FBI Director Christopher Wray, are covering up the scandal within the FBI in a misguided effort to save the institution.

Stupid AND short sighted... Lying to the American people is NOT the way to save the institutions... they way to do that is to let the truth come out - THEN MAKE CHANGES ...

THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WILL NEVER TRUST THE FBI OR DOJ IF THEY 'SECURE' OUR TRUST BY 'LYING UNDER OATH' TO US. WE WILL CATCH THEM IN THEIR LIES FOR DECADES... IT WILL BE A SLOW DEATH FOR THE FBI AND DOJ.

Tell the truth - make changes - THEN AND ONLY THEN - MOVE ON...

I had a TS/SCI clearance for almost 30 years. I have been read on and off more compartments than I can remember.

If I had ever failed or had even a questionable polygraph (full scope) I would NEVER been allowed near an SCI program again.

That said, I think it highly likely that Strzok was improperly protected. As such, his superior(s) immediately become(s) complicit in his malfeasance of office and liable to the same penalties under law.

No one on Free Republic should put any store in lie detector tests. In 2003 the National Academy of Sciences did a study NAS Report: The Polygraph and Lie Detection

From the executive summary:

Almost a century of research in scientific psychology and physiology provides little basis for the expectation that a polygraph test could have extremely high accuracy. Although psychological states often associated with deception (e.g., fear of being judged deceptive) do tend to affect the physiological responses that the polygraph measures, these same states can arise in the absence of deception. Moreover, many other psychological and physiological factors (e.g., anxiety about being tested) also affect those responses. Such phenomena make polygraph testing intrinsically susceptible to producing erroneous results. This inherent ambiguity of the physiological measures used in the polygraph suggests that further investments in improving polygraph technique and interpretation will bring only modest improvements in accuracy.

Polygraph research has not developed and tested theories of the underlying factors that produce the observed responses. Factors other than truthfulness that affect the physiological responses being measured can vary substantially across settings in which polygraph tests are used. There is little knowledge about how much these factors influence the outcomes of polygraph tests in field settings. For example, there is evidence suggesting that truthful members of socially stigmatized groups and truthful examinees who are believed to be guilty or believed to have a high likelihood of being guilty may show emotional and physiological responses in polygraph test situations that mimic the responses that are expected of deceptive individuals.
