Giancarlo Stanton has struck out more than ever, and thus, heard more boos than ever.

But with roughly half the regular season remaining, the reigning NL MVP is right where he wants to be — and in position for another historic tear.

Homering on back-to-back days for the third time this season, Stanton powered the Yankees to a 6-2 win over the Braves with his three-run shot Wednesday at Yankee Stadium.

This is nonnegotiatable. The Yankees MUST win a World Series. It is pretty much fact.

As a teenager, I loved the music of Roger Whittaker and was reviled by all of my (few) friends.

The First Hello still echos in my mind 45 years later.

We miss Mike Stanton here, but are happy that he’s playing with a champion caliber team.

I am convinced that G. Stanton will shine when given the opportunity to have clutch at bats in the playoffs.

If the Yankees could send Sonny Gray to Antarctica for the rest of the year they will be just fine. ;-)

Yup. Sonny Gray. He has potential. But…

Maybe a stint in AAA

It's too early to know how well the Yankees will be doing in 2020, but...

There have been 10 Presidential election years when the Yankees played in the World Series. They won 7 of those and lost 3.

They won in 1928, 1952, 1956, and 2000 when the Republican nominee won the election.

They won in 1932, 1936, and 1996 when the Democratic nominee won the election.

They lost the series in 1960, 1964, and 1976. In each of those years the Democratic nominee won the election.

So it is kind of a wash--how the Yankees do won't give us much of a clue as to who will win the election. But they haven't played in a World Series in a Presidential election year in the 21st century so far.

They have to win this year. It’s non-negotiatable to the Steinbrenners.
