Oregon Republican Congressman Greg Walden says President Trump called him late yesterday (Saturday June 30th) to say he is "seriously considering' a pardon for Oregon ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammond.
Walden, who represents the Hammonds in Congress, said that he "again strongly urged the president to administer the justice that is long overdue" and blamed the prosecution of the Hammonds on the Obama Administration.
But Ammon Bundy, who led the early 2016 Oregon Standoff protest centered at the Malheur Nationa Wildlife Refuge on the Hammonds, says more needs to be done than just releasing them from prison.
In a Facebook post Bundy says all court orders on their land and finances need to be rescinded.
The federal government fined the Hammonds 400-thousand dollars and the federal Bureau of Land Management holds first right of refusal on any sale of their land.
Ammon Bundy and the protesters at the Oregon Standoff in early 2016 put the case of the Hammonds on the map giving it worldwide attention. One of them, LaVoy Finicum, was killed in an FBI led operation against the non-violent protesters, with Ammon Bundy's brother Ryan Bundy sustaining a shrapnel wound in his shoulder.
Without their stand, the political forces would have remained silent on justice for the Hammonds.

This is how the left got where it is now but we don't seem able to learn the lesson.
Bundy seems to being doing his best to hurt the Hammonds at this point, and may have been all along. He certainly never helped.
The politicians would not have acted if the Bundy’s had not taken their stand along with the others in Oregon, including the slain martyr LaVoy Finicum.

Congressman Walden kept silent until the word was out that the POTUS had a pardon request coming through the WH counsel.

I'm not at all suggesting letting them take (at least some) of what was never theirs. I'm suggesting they already have it and we need to adopt a smarter strategy to take it all back and then some.

It’s OK to take a fist full where possible but you are right - it will take a long and concerted effort to get where we need to be.....occasional sprints are OK but we need to become long distance runners.
