"The hermit kingdom was actually wealthier than the now-affluent South before the Korean War"
Just like Cuba before Castro. Left-wingers destroy everything they touch.

The South doesn’t have mineral treasure, their growth is from entrepreneurship and brain-power/hard work.

They have a huge hollowed out mountain from nuke testing. That would make a nice dumpsite for nuclear waste materials that are piling up here in the USA. They take it off our hands, we pay them, a win-win situation.

Just like Cuba before Castro. Left-wingers destroy everything they touch. Venezuela. Zimbabwe. Socialism/Communism destroys everything it touches. But our schools teach that Capitalism is evil.

I was surprised at the weather——for some reason I had it in my head that it was cold.
I got a kick out of the film industry——my DIL’s mother loves Korean soaps.

Peopl of Korea have beautiful teeth because of the prevalence of fluorapatite mineral enrichment of the water there, I have been told. So one of the wealth-building products would be HF acid, so necessary for the manufacture of semiconductors.
They also ought to be able to support some fine ski resorts for both local (secondary) and global (primary) tourist income.
South Korea does produce fine strawberries and the excellent Asian pears, which should also bring in foreign exchange if the northern provinces also get into exportable agricultural products.
Of course, on of the biggest income-producing products would be fertilizer, always needed by the Far East for intensive farming.

Every family in North Korea gets 5lbs of meat per week, modern medicine, a basic car, a monthly bag of rice and sufficient cabbage for kimchi and we get 60% of the minerals. Deal?

I witnessed two cold Korean winters but I had been living in Iowa for four years so it wasn’t too different.
