I live in a town that had 3 starters in the US team when we hosted the World Cup in 1994, and I live a few miles from the stadium where the 2026 final will be played. I’ve heard every uninformed reason why this World Cup will be the one the US wins, and like the match above they are usually after a meaningless win in a friendly match - remember when the US beat Italy for the first time recently? Italy! Now they both have four more years to contemplate what that game meant...
