unfortunately Electric boat builds sub sections in Quonset then barges them to New London for assembly, is the only sub production on the east coast.

Setting aside for a moment matters of politics, economics, defense procurement and the rest, I’ve always enjoyed the name of the company, “Electric Boat”.
It’s simple, direct and tells you exactly what the purpose of the operation is, or was originally. You don’t see much of that anymore. What the hell’s a face book, or a yahoo or a duckduckgo, which I’m using right now? Maybe a present-day corporate goal is obscurity.

Electric boat ... is the only sub production on the east coast.

Doesn't Newport News still build subs?

I don't pay that close of attention to it anymore. Growing up my dad worked at EB and Newport News was always the enemy when contract time came around. I know there was at least one class of subs that was a joint venture between the two (Seawolf?), but I was out of the house by then.

Blue collar work will help unblue the state. Remember the Electoral College.

EB is going to be busy in Groton cranking out 2 VA Class hulls a year as well as the new COLUMBIA SSBN 826 Class to replace OHIO Class (Trident) boats.

Clearly, you have never heard of Newport News Shipbuilding, which not only builds nuclear submarines, but is the only yard to build US aircraft carriers. It is a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries.

EB and Newport News build and finish Virginia class subs together. They alternate launching complete boats. EB is the lead yard for the Columbia class, but NNS has a piece of the manufacturing work also.
