Libertarians are chilish anarchists. They refuse to take responsibility for being in a country. They believe they have no responsibility to a country but demand the country protect them.

You can't have a welfare state with open borders. You can supply some benefits and have it work if you have a homogeneous society like Japan or somewhat Switzerland.

I lean Libertarian, but I could never accept their call for a tiny military.

Yeah, there’s a definite difference between Libertarians and libertarians, of which I am one.

The proper term is "Classic Liberal", but that was before the Communists hijacked the word "Liberal".

“They refuse to take responsibility for being in a country. They believe they have no responsibility to a country but demand the country protect them.”

the current batch don’t even believe in countries:

“The Libertarian Party consistently lobbies for the removal of governmental impediments to free trade. This is because their platform states that “political freedom and escape from tyranny demand that individuals not be unreasonably constrained by government in the crossing of political boundaries”.[106] To promote economic freedom, they demand the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders. “

So homogeneity is the key?

Will it work in homogeneous societies like Liberia or Haiti?

how about open borders?

“We support the removal of governmental impediments to free trade. Economic freedom demands the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders. “

“Will it work in homogeneous societies like Liberia or Haiti?”

Those are not high trust societies.

That's another problem with "big L" Libertarians.

Is that the big L or small L Libertarians? A lot of those I know who claim the title just want their drug of choice legal and to be left alone on all other topics.

“There can be no tolerance ... in a libertarian social order.”

Accepting (requiring) open borders, abortion on demand, unregulated drug sales, open prostitution of all ages and sexes - but not accepting contrarian opinions. The odd, bizarro world of the libertine Libertarian.

You speak of modern Libertarians, not of Libertarian originalists who believed that the state should be kept to the very minimum to provide strictly proper constitutional services.
To conflate the two is the equivalent of putting RINOs and actual Republicans in the same box. Just not fair.
The only places that Libertarians differ with actual Republicans is as it pertains to personal behaviors and the proper size/scope of those constitutional services of government.

Wrong. Open borders, abortion on demand, prostitution by both sexes of any age - at any time, legal drugs of all kinds, none of these are congruent with actual GOP platforms or policies.
