Canadian Woman Arrested in Germany for Questioning Holocaust in Viral Video

Speaking of freedom of speech (or the lack thereof) and communism disguised as “liberalism” or “progressiveness” making a big-comeback in Western Europe, we just got word from B’nai Brith that a Canadian woman from Alberta was arrested in Germany. Her crime? Well, her crime is historic revisionism, i.e. a thought-crime. The thing is, in modern Germany (and other “democratic” EU countries, France comes to mind), it is forbidden by law to question the holocaust. The punishment for holocaust heresy can land the sinner for up to five years in prison. Speaking of the non aggression principle, in 2018 in Germany you can go to jail for a significant amount of time just for expressing a view on a historic event that took place almost 80 years ago. The latest victim of Germany’s pathological historic-guilt with regard to War World 2 is Monika Schaefer, who got reported (as in they rat her out) by B’nai Brith, a Jewish group, who filed a complaint with German authorities against the Canadian woman for what they described as anti-semitic incitement.

You can be a holocaust-denying, Jew-baiting anti-Semite in Germany at your own risk. What would happen to someone in the US who denied slavery ever existed and espoused the notion of blacks being less than human? Can you say ‘hate speech?’ I knew you could. And could you be jailed for it? You bet your bippy.

You are crazy. That person would not be arrested for saying those things.

You left out the ‘and’ and what followed it. Why is that?

There would be an effort made to destroy their life.

“And could you be jailed for it? You bet your bippy.”

Ummm, no you cannot be jailed for mere “hate speech.” In US laws, the very limited use of “hate speech” has to do with expressed motivation while committing another crime. For example, in certain places, robbing a person....while calling them racist things...could add to the penalty of robbery.

No where in America though, can one be arrested merely for holding or expressing hateful, racist views. You might be thrown out of a business, or fired from a job....but you cannot be arrested. Our 1st Amendment does, actually, protect us.

Germany, however, since WWII has had laws against expressing support for Nazi views, including Holocaust denial. Given the fanatical, religious support Nazism had among many, this is understandable, to stomp it out—AND Germany does not have a 1st Amendment.

Didn’t see the need to include it. You aren’t going to jail in the US for saying slavery never existed and blacks are less than human. Look at Farrakhan and everything he said, he never went to jail for it.

Not really. If they came up to a black person and said "You are subhuman" that would be provocative speech. Maybe hate speech. You'd have to talk to a lawyer.

there is SOOOOOOO much documentation of the Holacaust, thousands of witness staements plus all the Nazi’s own records (they loved keeping records of their murder work, they took actual pride in it)

anyone who tries to deny it now is either very very VERY uninformed (hard to believe) or really mentally sicko in need of prompt psycho care, imho

A reasoned, intelligent response. Thank you. It would have been better had I said hate speech can add to a penalty.

Similarly, Farrakhan or at least his counterparts in Germany can most certainly say such things and the authorities stand down.

What bothers me here is Germany prosecuting a Canadian for something that was said in Canada.

When will we see an American prosecuted in Germany for owning guns in America? Or for voting for Trump?

Hmmm? What then?

She probably shouldn’t have gone to Germany. Although Zundel had the same thing happen to him.

So, how come most of Germany’s muslims aren’t in the slammer for this? Most of are deniers, for sure.

In a sane world, this law would prove to be the thing which saves Germany from invasion. But like I said, in a sane world.

The Germans sure do love themselves some authoritarianism.

Even when being anti-Nazi, they gotta act like Nazis.
