“it would take a truly incompetent Republican to lose against Franken.”

I am beginning to wonder if there is any other kind.

I hope this doofus stays.
Let him be the poster boy for the RATs.
And then beat him in 2020.

I agree. I’ve never wanted this pos to go. He is much too valuable as a poster boy for the evil donkey really is.

Win win for Republicans if he stays. A Dem was being appointed in his place anyway. Dems will no longer have the higher ground argument with the dirtbag changing his mind and staying and other dems now having to defend him next election and a Republican candidate having a wounded Franken complete with photo evidence to run in ads 24/7 during the campaign.

Weren’t we supposed to hear about a dozen or so more polit-igropers today? Specifically ones where complaints were paid out of slush funds?

Tina Smith, Minnesota's Democratic lieutenant governor, was named last week as his appointed successor.

If he withdraws his resignation, he will be denying a woman a seat in the Senate. How is that going to go over with the feminists?

Why the pharaohs preferred eunuchs to attend to the details of government. A pretty good idea if you ask me?

Wonder how the female senators that called for resignation will react?

I don’t like Franken. Of course I disagree with his politics, but he is also an arrogant and condescending person. That said, he is entitled to some due process. He denied wrongdoing and should have been investigated. This was a sham to help beat Roy Moore and add an arrow to the quiver against President Trump.

reconsider resigning

This is part of what is generally referred to as "the plan".

>>Next election cycle, it would take a truly incompetent Republican to lose against Franken. Yes, some Republicans can be tone-deaf and lose even without the 100 mph media headwind.

Next election cycle is in 2020.. 3 years away. Franken’s groping will be long forgotten by then. Minnesota stays blue in any event.

What if he was replaced by a lovable, personable (looking and acting as I don’t think they can be in real life)Democrat? Next election cycle, it would take a truly incompetent Republican to lose against Franken.

Tina Smith looks to be an excellent replacement from the Democrat point of view. She's already said she'll run again in the 2018 election so this is a safe Democrat seat.

He's not going to withdraw. Smith will be Senator before the end of January.
