The bum said those few that see him are gone at the next light change, and the $45k-$50k or more per year - all cash and tax-free - takes care of any shame he might feel being seen by his friends.
Never give money to panhandlers for any ‘cause’. Like phone solicitors it only encourages them. If it never worked, they’d stop.
We have a little old lady who hangs out at our local Hardee’s. When she sees someone going to the ladies room she follows her in. Then she pretends to be talking on her cell, telling “someone” that a mutual friend needs a medical procedure but can’t afford to get to the hospital teo hours away. Ladies in stalls or at the sink overhearing the “conversation” give her money to help.
It must be nice to have no sense of shame.
“I like the ones who claim theyre disabled vets.”
My wife passed a beggar in a wheelchair. When she came out of the store she saw the beggar behind the McDonalds - figured he had got enough for a burger.
Another guy came walking out with a couple of coffees. The “disabled” guy got up out of the wheelchair and switched places with the guy, who then wheeled himself out to another intersection!
I always ignore the ones with the signs. A few are always hanging around the local Walmart with their hard luck messages - often while Walmart has signs advertising that they are hiring. One mumbled the words, “cold...hungry) as I walked by on the way into the store. On the way out, I handed him one of the deli hoagies they sell - got a funny look because food is never the real goal.....always want cash for booze/drugs.
Beggar with a dog at an intersection.
As I drove by I threw a dog biscuit out for the dog.
In Houston supposedly there is a bum pimp who coordinates the placement of bums so that there are no conflicts over lucrative intersections.
The pimp gets a cut.
The changing of the guard near me, 610 at Main St., occurs at 5pm and you can set your watch by.
