But smoking was a “public health” issue ...

A third? I'm dubious.

But, this is a persuasion technique. Make an outrageous claim. That forces the audience to spend time justifying your very point - "Maybe not a third, I could buy a sixth...". End result? People argue about HOW right you are, rather than if you were even correct to begin with.

FWIW, I liked Playboy when I was a teenager and didn't know any better. Now, I think that Hef was a sad old man, who took advantage of his position.

In 2010, 24% of Americans were under 18. Just for grins, let’s say 20% are under 16. So roughly 80% of 330 million Americans is 264 million people. If 110 million are infected, then 41.67% of all “adults” are infected.

The number seems a bit high.

Almost half of us have STD’s?

And some of these diseases are related to others - such some cancers.

And if we dare peel back the onion on race and sexual lifestyle, the rates of infection are even more stunning.

More 'progressive' public health issues: white Conservatives, white Christians, pro-lifers, pro-traditional marriage, God, guns, Bibles and President Trump. All of these health issues, whether single or in combination make Leftists seriously ill, so ill they make them feel like they're going to die.

At his core, Hefner was a pimp.

I was dubious as well, but given the degree of sexual perversion in our culture...

I know! Shocking numbers if true! But notice all of the ads for herpes (etc.) drugs?

True. As damaging is the legal redefinition of marriage, that pales to what divorce has wrought. (As the author has noted before.)

Forgive the irreverence, but Hef is the Thomas Jefferson or George Washington of sexual liberation and maybe even of feminism, the slave-owner who led the revolution. So it’s no surprise that people don’t know what to do with him.

He was a dirty-minded scumbag. The Pied Piper who led the simple-minded to the modern day version of Leprosy. The only thing he liberated people from was virtue.

Along with Alfred Kinsey,Antonino Gramsci, and Herbert Marcuse,Hugh Hefner ranks as one of the most influential degenerates in history. What a sad legacy. Even sadder for our rotting civilization.

Does the article undervalue the impact of the Pill?

You combine that with Playboy, rejection of the Hayes Code in movies, the counter-culture rejection of traditional Christian values in the 1960s and it's a recipe for the disaster we're in today.
