In Case You Were Planning To Float Any Long Term Loans ...

This most recent false prophecy, David Meade

Now it is David Meade, a professing Christian, who is predicting a world’s end and rightfully causing gaping mouths and eye rolls from people who are already skeptics of any sort of spirituality. Thank you, David. Regardless of the special meanings you may have applied to your false prophecy, you’ve given the world yet another opportunity to laugh at God, His Son and his precious word, the Bible.

In a bizarre combination of numerology and astrology, stirred in with some of the Bible’s Book of Revelation, Mr Meade has calculated end of the world ‘as we know it’ on Saturday, September 23. Look out. Put on your aluminum foil hats and scuba suits before bed tonight.

If no one from our group of secret-rapture believers posts on this thread will it be because...they’ve been secretly raptured?

Jk.

But, but, but...The doomsday prophecy, the ancient Maya predicted the end of the world would occur on Dec. 21, 2012...Oh wait, it’s 2017 isn’t it...Facts, they are so inconvenient.

Non-believers have a hay day with these predictions.

Believers know that we know not the hour Christ will return or even when our life on earth will be over so we just try to live out each hour/day, etc. as if it was our last. Now, saying that, it is truly hard for man to even embrace this as we get mired in earthly duties and causes!

Be Blessed!!

first of all- most christians who are proposing a possible rapture are not claiming it’s ‘the end of the world’- they are claiming simply that it’s possible that, due to signs that were never present in past claims, that the rapture might happen-

Most folks I’ve seen discussing the issue tempter the idea with the reality that it may or may not happen and simply are stating that there are some very interesting sets of signs that ‘may indicate’ the rapture is at hand

I don’t know what meade believes- not going to read it- but when mocking Christians- at least be sure you have your facts straight- most Christians are not emphatically claiming the ‘world will end’ on sept 23- obviously if the rapture were to happen, the world will not end for another 1007 years

Almost as bad are the people who conflate natural disasters with some sin or sins. The idiots calling this hurricane or that earthquake a ‘judgment’ are also guilty of Balaam’s error and equally guilty of giving others pretext, no matter how ignorant, to mock The Lord.

[[Believers know that we know not the hour Christ will return]]

Again- We need to be careful here- the hour and day is talking about Christ’s return to earth- His second coming- not a rapture event- The context of that whole passage show it’s talking about second coming-

I know, right?

The fact that they picked that date is pretty amazing for their long count calendar, given its solar system significance (crossing the plane of the galaxy) but the world does not end in the same way that it does not end every December 31.

You just start over again in Jan 1.

My wife works with a nurse who went on a self involved rant about this at work, quit her job and is currently preparing her family for the end of the earth. Hard to believe you would quit a 100K+ per year job (where you work 12 days a month). This nonsense does real harm to real people. They are never hiring her back cause she is obviously bat-shit crazy.

As per the Apostle John, “the tribulation” has been ongoing since the first century.

Revelation 1:9

[ The Patmos Vision ] I, John, your brother and fellow partaker in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance which are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

I’ve read previous accounts and I think there is a good basis for thinking that this Jewish festival (Festival of the Trumpets or whatever it’s called) will be the time when something big happens (rapture, Jesus comes back, etc.). I get confused in the whole order of events, and it sounds like there are various opinions on the order.

But - to say it will be THIS YEAR or 36 years from now I would tend to say forget it. I had no idea what this was all about so I found some website. Another Christian and an astronomer. He was dissing it. He talked about how “the ten stars” or whatever that get brought into play is a big stretch no matter how people go about numbering them.

One of his comments was something like “And some youtubers say it is the 10 stars of the constellation xyz. Most of them then bring up the starchart in ACME Stars Software which shows the 10 stars. However, there are actually 12 stars in that constellation, so right there it is wrong...”

Of course I might see Jesus on Saturday - or ten minutes from now for that matter.

Back in college I knew a guy from Bible study, if he woke up during the night for any reason he would jump out of bed and look out his window in anticipation of Jesus’ return! When he first mentioned it I thought he was nuts. He later explained that he didn’t REALLY think he would see Jesus (or miss Him if he slept) - but it was more just the idea of discipline. He was using the “thief in the night” verse as motivation. He did it for a full year!

Saturday morning or Saturday night? Because I’m doing yard work in the morning and would hate to miss it.

I would not & am not mocking sincere Christians.

But I don’t put any stock in people making serious chronological predictions of this nature.

The rapture is a 19th century addition.

I used to be a pre-tribber. Now I’m mostly mid-trib, though it may be something completely different. I wonder if the great tribulation spoken of in Revelation 7 actually refers to all of human history after the fall.

[[He talked about how “the ten stars” or whatever that get brought into play is a big stretch no matter how people go about numbering them.]]

I’ve seen that site- but what he doesn’t mention is the fact that several other ‘signs’ and timelines all culminate at the same time- and no- it’s not a big stretch- the number of stars- there’s another site which refutes his claims-

Will it happen tomorrow? Who knows- I hope so- but if not- We’ll all carry on as usual and await the rapture hopefully during our lifetime- Will our world be turned upside down if it doesn’t? Nope- Sunday will be just like any other day for us- except we’ll be a little disappointed of course- but the fact is there are some very interestingness signs and timeliness that all culminate now- at the very least- it’s interestingly curious-
