Canadians cannot count on the Conservative Party of Canada to do anything to secure Canadas southern border
Last week, the Canadian government released statistics on the number of illegal immigrants crossing into Canada from the United States at points other than official ports of entry. These numbers include only those who were intercepted by the RCMP while illegally entering the country. It has been estimated hundreds of illegals are walking into Canada every day.
In June, the last month these statistics are available, 884 illegal border crossers were arrested coming into Canada. A whopping 781 of these asylum seekers crossed into Quebec. The resources available to house, feed and process these refugees are strained with some of them having to be housed in Montreals Olympic Stadium.
Cry me a river. 800 illegals? When the count reaches 10 or 20 million, give me a call.
The voters need to make a stink about it, or they won’t be concerned.
Should be fun to watch!
Well, that is more than 8,000 per year in a country with a much smaller population than the US. Still apparently not enough to wake up the voters.
We should do to Canada what Mexico did to us.
Pickup every Illegal at the Southern Border and put them on a Train headed to our Northern Border.
Short of building a wall...or stationing tens of thousands of border guards...there's not much either country can do to make the border impenetrable.Even in the heavily populated portion of the border that I know (New England and Quebec) it's a piece of cake to go either way.
Go to the Dakotas,Montana and Idaho (the middle of nowhere) a child could do it....in either direction.
Trump has made it clear that he's not inclined to believe the sob stories that out illegals tell whereas Trudeau has made it just as clear that he does.
From my point of view that's the real issue.
Canucks could always build a wall......
Canucks love to look down their noses at Americans over our immigration policy while they seek to kick out the Romany. Too bad too sad.
The best part is that these new illegals would have to be deported to their home countries, not kicked back to the US.
seems like Canadian conservatives have about as much balls as American conservatives?
The Illegals belong to the US anyway
No they don’t, they belong in their own countries.
Not really. They are walking up the roads. We have an army, station them on the border. Put illegal entrants in jail pending their deportation back to the US. The refugee stream will stop.

GSC, my friend, rural people on both sides of the border know what is going happening on their land. A bunch of people who don't look like they belong will draw attention. A phone call to the authorities should do the trick.
OK,yah...I can understand that. However,if they're not US citizens and don't have a Green Card (which would mean either that they were in the US illegally or on some kind of temporary visa) you'd have to deport them to their country of citizenship.
I've seen it written that there are some who enter the US illegally who, when caught, refuse to present any papers (passport, etc) and also refuse to identify their nationality.IIRC our courts have ruled that you can't deport such people and you can't detain them for any length of time. That means they get to stay.Don't know if the same is true Up North.

If you turn them around at the border, they end up back in the US.
You are right about the rest. They arrive and claim to be without document, hard to deal with. Actually that was the origin of the explicative "WOP", With Out Papers.
My reading of this is that the Army is there to assist your Border Service in "welcoming" the "refugees"...not to prevent them from entering Canadian soil.If I'm correct on that it would be in keeping with Trudeau's "open arms" policy.

I think if they succeed in setting foot on Canadian soil at a place other than an official crossing your people couldn't return them to the US without breaking a treaty. And of course if the situation was reversed the same treaty would prevent us from returning a person to Canada.
As I posted a day or two ago there's a town in Vermont called Derby Line which is on the border with Quebec.I've visited the town several times on my way to Montreal. There's at least one spot in the town (The Haskell Library...google it for interesting info) where one can easily cross from US soil to Canadian soil.In fact I once had a short chat there with an RCMP officer who was about 20 feet inside Canada at the time...with me about 1 foot inside US territory. That was a first for me..an international conversation with the use of wires.
And that's where the treaty and,it would seem,Trudeau's open arms policy comes into play.
But fear not...winter should thin out the herd heading north.
Let's hope.
