Wrong. It will not replace production manufacturing.

I googled: “how strong is sintered metal”

https://www.google.com/search?q=how+strong+is+sintered+metal&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Seems to me this process would work well with non-structural, non-explosion proof requirements.

This one I think is mostly real.

Not perfect, but close enough for a lot of applications.

Interesting process, too early to tell how well it will actually work. Faster than laser sintering for sure. At this price it should be attractive for some rapid prototyping and low volume production, depending on material quality and all the above.

Could be a much needed tech for sending robots to the moon to build a moon base using this technology BEFORE sending people there.

Moon soil and dust is very high in titanium and other useful light metals.

Is this company publicly traded?

It will never be cheaper in mass production and it will produce weaker products. 3D printing is much cheaper than any limited run. But mass production through 3D is not cost effective. And does not have a good end product.

Doesn’t sound like it is. Start up in third round of funding.

Have a nephew who’s on the cutting edge of this, he say’s it’s still in it’s early development. Largest piece currently possible is 12x12 inch’s and that it’s not as strong as a forged or machined piece and the tolerances aren’t there....yet. However, the pace of development is stunning and it’s getting there quickly.

Exactly my thinking as well. No more need for cheap foreign labor, and we can afford to be VERY particular in whom we let in to our country.

When it gets to the point of explosion-proof parts, the gun control movement is going to break out in hives. Hell, they’re doing that already!

I was wondering the same thing. Could be a nice place to part a bit of investment capital.

Don’t know but usually when they say “startup” it’s not. Also when they talk about Google Ventures being one of the investors.

3D printing will advance. We run two ABS. Proto typing thousands of pieces per year. Our machines run 24/7 365. They have saved our corp. millions in proto cost/time.

3D printing glass, metal, medical silicone is gaining steam. There are printing houses with scores of printers pumping out pieces.

Folks, regardless of the nay sayers...hop on board, izz gonna be a great ride.

It is real, I work there (writing firmware for these printers). It's a Silicon Valley style startup in Burlington MA (open floor office, tennis & foosball tables, free breakfasts, lunches & dinners from best local restaurants, Greek yogurts, fruit baskets, etc. all day, interns year around). Intense but fun work, many come in to the office on Saturdays and Sundays, there is also a night shift. The place is humming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
