The U.S. Department of Agriculture is preparing to ease school lunch regulations created under former President Barack Obama.
On Friday, the department announced its secretary, former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue, will introduce an interim rule to provide "regulatory flexibility" for the National School Lunch Program at a Virginia elementary school on Monday, alongside Pat Roberts, R-Kansas, chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry.
It's unclear how the regulations will be changed, or what effect it could have on school lunchrooms.
The National School Lunch Program provides nutritionally balanced reduced-cost or free lunches to children. Former First Lady Michelle Obama imposed strict nutritional standards on the program as part of her campaign against obesity....

When I started school in the 60s, there were no federal regulations about what school cafeterias could, couldn’t, or must serve and we had delicious, nutritious lunches. Then the feds started sticking their noses into it with free lunches for the poor kids (I was one) and the lunches steadily got worse until you have the inedible crap that Moochelle mandated.
Wookie’s lunch program starved kids at a time when they need the most calories. She’s an idiot. Let’s hope they reverse the idiocy in its entirety. Given the collectivist nature of so many on the GOP, however, I won’t be surprised if they keep most of it.

As a high school teacher, I hope they do. Whole wheat everything, food quality low, no drinks except flavored water and skim milk.
I had to wash dishes, trays and silverware to receive a hot meal at school.
The unelected FLOTUS, Michelle Obama, had no business planning school lunches for the nation. She obviously had no clue, and it was stupid to have listened to her.This is definitely something that should have been repealed in the first 100 days. Sid Miller, Texas Ag Commissioner, repealed it for TX schools that wanted to drop it in the first month he was in office.

My son has been in public schools in two districts and he reports that the quality of the food has gotten worse over the past few years. Some kind of bread stick stuffed with cheese: that’s lunch. It is certainly worse than the school lunches I grew up with that had appealing, healthy, balanced meals. That was over 50 years ago and it is beyond me why schools can’t do the same now, considering the “progress” we have made in every other way since then. I have no evidence, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the school lunch program is a scam. The money comes into the district. Some of it is used to buy cheap, low-quality food. The rest goes elsewhere.
The National School Lunch Program provides food the children won’t eat. Most of it goes to the dumpster, Don’t blame the kids. i wouldn’t eat it either.
On no, we may finally hear from Obama, got to protect his woman don’t you know.
