Bannon 'Comeback' Involves Steel, Canada, Dairy 'Disgrace'

(Newser) – President Trump has been pushing hard to bring his "Buy American, Hire American" mantra to fruition, including with an executive order meant to prevent "foreign cheaters" from taking US jobs and infringing on our steel production, a senior administration official said Monday, per Politico. The New York Times reports that on Thursday, Trump also laid into Canada, saying our northern neighbor exploits US workers, specifically in the dairy industry, and that "what they've done ... is a disgrace." The Wall Street Journal notes that to make his point on steel (and on other products "important to defense," a source says), Trump has called for a probe relying on the little-referenced 1962 Trade Expansion Act, which allows for trade sanctions for "national security" reasons. The argument, briefly: If the US doesn't create enough steel, it won't have enough for the military.

While some may point to all of this trade talk as an example of Trump keeping one of his campaign promises, the Times notes a more interesting angle: that of a "comeback" for Steve Bannon, Trump's chief strategist who was deemed a "marked man" just last week. Trump is "manically focused on these trade issues," Bannon tells the paper, which notes that Bannon's nationalist belief on putting up trade barriers stands in stark contrast to the "globalist" philosophies of other White House bigwigs like Jared Kushner (Trump's son-in-law) and ex-Goldman Sachs banker Gary Cohn, who now heads up the National Economic Council. At any rate, a senior White House official tells the Times we can expect more such trade-tied events, perhaps a couple a week for the next few weeks.

Bannon’s economic agenda is Trump’s best chance at re-election.

I’m not sure Bannon needs a come-back. I’m not sure he ever really left. Nothing you see in the media regarding Trump can be taken at face value. Nothing.

First of all, Trump projects what he wants to project for his own reasons and full knowledge that the media will work 24/7 to distort whatever he puts out there.

Secondly, the media works 24/7 to distort whatever Trump puts out there.

“Nothing you see in the media regarding Trump can be taken at face value. Nothing.”

exactly. the “comeback” is a fake because the “disgrace” was a fake to start with as well.

The enemedia USED to be able to build folks up and tear them down, but they can’t do that anymore because they’ve lost all credibility and no pays a bit of attention to them any more or believes a word they say, so they’ve been reduced faking building people up and faking tearing them down.

The enemedia now lives in a completely fictional world of their own making. And their fictional world is a bubble world too because no one else lives there but themselves.

We should keep a running Top 10 list. So far number 1 is sending 3 Aircraft carriers to Korea.

Bannon’s always been an active performer. The media lies to make themselves feel good.

As I said two weeks ago. This was all a nuthing burger. Bannon never seemed concerned in his discussions with me.

Fight on Bannon! I remember when he did The Undefeated chronicling Sarah Palin's life and fight. I thought then, "Man, this guy's got it." Go Bannon!

The Prince and Princess went home to their realm for over a week. The WH seems to be much more focused on the Deplorable Agenda which got President Trump elected. Coincidence? I think not.

If only the Prince and Princess would stay in their true realm and hold court with their fellow Democratic elitist maniacs.

I don’t buy that poll any more than I bought the Trump polls, buy Cruz is still adrift, occasionally making a good policy speech then nullifying it with something out of kilter.

He needs the consistency that is Trump. Just support Trump and he’ll be fine.

Regarding the Trump administration believe nothing you read or hear in the media even the “supposedly more friendly” media like Fox. Trump uses Twitter to communicate to the public not the MSM. (Obviously they hate that!) However even then his statements are part of his on-going “Information Warfare” he has with the Rats & the MSM. (And they hate that and can’t counter it!) Do these “strategic tweets” mean he is disingenuous & hypocritical some may wish to interpret it that way. They do so at their own peril. (I use “peril” to mean you are getting all ‘worked up’ over nothing! Bad for the BP, heart & indigestion!)

So kick back, pop some corn (or get another favorite snack!), if you’re so inclined an adult beverage or two and watch the show!
