And what might those be?

Potentially very good news here, even if it did have to come at an event sponsored by the Worst Web Site in the World. I’ll let Mark Meadows tell you himself:

The idea that appears to be so promising is offering waivers to states on “essential health benefits.” That’s one of the ObamaCare elements that has caused premiums to rise so much - the idea that every policy must cover a defined list of services that many people might not choose for their policies if they had the choice.

Wouldn’t it be better to set a low minimum Federal baseline of required services, and let insurance companies sell across state lines to get some competition going? The states could have recommended guidelines, but those would come at an extra cost.

The same insurance company can set up in multiple states now, can’t they? What does “selling across state lines” really mean? It might mean that the insurance policies can bypass state regulations by setting up shop in the most lenient state and selling nationwide from there. It’s debatable whether letting states lose control over their own regulatory structure like that is a conservative position or not.

It is debatable, and that state/Federal conflict is unavoidable once the Federal Government gets involved in healthcare, as it has been for many years.

I’m pretty fed up at this point. Repeal it. Simple. End of story.

Wait. “Waivers” to free states implies that tyranny is still the accepted default. How about repeal that provision in its entirety, and let commie scum citizens in commie scum states buy the crap insurance if they can find an insurer who’ll sell it to them? Shouldn’t FREEDOM be the baseline assumption and stupidity and collectivism be the deviant behaviors?
