I recently listened to all eight of ABBA’s albums for the first time. Here are my 31 favorite songs.

Unless they moved the Rio Grande to Spain, I think the song is about the mexi-american war.

Uh, what’s wrong with the bong? The anti-marijuana fixation is fascinating.

I saw them in concert in 1979 when they did their only North American tour. It was a gift from a client one terrifying summer when I was a driving instructor. They put on a good show but were they the greatest live group I had ever seen? Basically no.

Actually Anna and Annie were the “front men” of the group if you are focusing on the guys you have your own issues. Anna and Annie run something close to the Gilligan’s Island Mary Ann or Ginger debate.

There’s a Rio Grande in southern Spain. However, I figured “Fernando” could be about supporters of the Mexican emperor Maximilian fleeing to Texas to escape the Juarezistas in the 1860’s—or maybe Confederate partisans fleeing in the opposite direction.

I never understood the appeal of ABBA. I have 67k songs on my computer and not one of them is an ABBA song. I’m not saying that it’s unreasonable to like them, only that I don’t understand it.
