Dang, I hate to make one of these "vanity" posts, inviting the "are you logged in?" comments, but I need my home computer with its VNC-type program for work, and I've never seen this weird crap before (I'm on my husband's computer to post this). Maybe I'm asking for it because I'm running Windows 7 (*sigh*) on a Dell PC.

I was typing an e-mail in Outlook, and suddenly it was like the darned thing was commandeered. The screen presentation shifted on its left side. The mouse control orientation is hosed, too.

Yes, I forced a re-boot a couple of times, but while the Dell intro screen is correctly oriented, the functioning display is still on its left side. Do any of you have an idea of how I can fix this?

Try holding CTRL+Alt+arrow key. Probably the right arrow, but experiment.

Reboot in Safe Mode. (Tap the F8 key during the startup process). Note if the problem still exists.

Uninstall and re-install the video driver.

Only right oriented screens are allowed on FR. Left oriented get zotted.

“If you’re running Windows 7 or 8, you may be able to quickly rotate your screen 90°, 180° or 270° at any time by pressing three keys. Simply hold down Control + Alt and then select the arrow key for which way you want your laptop or PC screen to face.Jan 11, 2017”

Google rotate screen orientation.

Sounds like a BOFH @ work effectively told you to “move”...

"Simply hold down Control + Alt and then select the arrow key"

Gives me a different workspace, but thanks for the tip...

Thank you, Granite. I’ll reboot, and make sure the orientation is correct, and follow your instructions if not.

The [CTRL]+[ARROW} keys change the screen orientation in Windows. I would bet you have a stuck key or bad keyboard. Anyway try the key combo and see if you can get pointed in the right direction again.

How do you presume to know which orientation is “correct?” All possible orientations or combinations of orientations, or even simple curiosity, are welcome.
