Open carry is becoming mainstreamed. Most people simply do not care. Many people are carrying black objects on their belts or waistlines these days.

“Many people are carrying black objects on their belts or waistlines these days. “

I got a Sneakypete.com ballistic nylon holster. It looks like a large cell phone case or PDA holster. It was the least attention-grabbing belt carry holster I could find. However, it is attractive and oddly shaped, so everybody asked what it was and since “Open” carry is not allowed I had to retire it.

I live in Texas and conceal carry sometimes. I am not against open carry. I just don’t see any advantage to it especially when it comes to self defense. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

Well I’m glad it was in Hispanic as well, but shouldn’t there also be a mussie interpretation as well so they’d keep their guns out of there too? Then it also begs the question: Who goes to Denny’s these days?

“Who goes to Denny’s these days?”

You don’t _go_ to Denny’s.
You _end_up_ at Denny’s.

The Leftists in Austin predicted bloodshed if students who had concealed carry licenses were allowed to have guns at the University ofTexas. The looney Left professors, who daily insult conservative students in their classes, were particularly fearful. The law took effect last Sept. 1...and nothing has happened. No doubt dozens of CC holders are on campus and no one knows who they are. No word if the Leftist profs are still nervous.

Denny’s is good at some locations. We like Denny’s... Give me Waffle House and IHOP...Great breakfasts, too.

Some like Denny’s some don’t. I’ve not been in one for years. I do like IHOP or Waffle House at times, but only when desperate.

It’s hard to even find a Denny’s around here any more, but I went there often as a boy because of my dad’s affinity for it. The founder of Denny’s was a man named Harold Butler and his son was one of my dad’s best friends. Denny’s actually started out in the early 50’s as an Orange County, CA, donut shop called Danny’s Donuts. Not sure why it was changed From Danny’s to Denny’s, but that happened early on. The Butler family was very nice to my dad back then, so I hate to see what has become of the chain.

“I just don’t see any advantage to it especially when it comes to self defense”

Because of my clothing the only concealed choice is a .380 in a pocket holster. That can be difficult to get at as it shifts positions even with the pocket holster and depending on being seated or standing. A gun on your hip is easily accessed, but does require another level of situational awareness as a penalty. Others can potentially access it as well.

Do they give permits to people who only speak Mexican? Idiotic.

If you ride a motorcycle and wear protective clothing, carrying concealed means the pistol is inside your impact armor. A crash will drive the hard steel of the pistol into your body, causing injuries you would not have otherwise suffered. Open carry means you can carry your pistol on your body but outside the impact armor where it is less likely to cause injury.

There is also the case to be made for open carry in situations where you are sitting down for long periods and you can’t use a shoulder holster.

That’s not why the requirement for Spanish on the sign is in the law. The real reason it is there is to make the sign as large, ugly and onerous for someone to post. A fully legal 30.06 or 30.07 is quite large and obvious. Most businesses do not want to have such things visible, so they will shrink the sign or omit the Spanish part.

But if you shrink the sign past the legally definied minimum size or leave the Spanish off, it is no longer valid - it can legally be ignored as if it were not there.

I’m sure it’s more convenient to OC, but no point in advertising the fact that you’re armed in most cases. One of the best reasons to have the OC law is so you don’t get in trouble for “flashing your gun”.
