When I got my carry permit back in the early 90’s, I trained with the fellow that qualified both our local police as well as troopers. I trained with him for about 3 years, and had to do this drill almost every time I shot with him.

I was taught the "SPEED ROCK" back in the 70's. Same same.

RE: SPEED ROCK -
for CQB, left hand out(if firing with right hand - reverse for left-handers) and pushing away from subject, fire a minimum of 3 rounds.
powder burns on your shirt or you're not doing it right.(with a revolver)
