Bunge to add plant in Indiana or Ohio

Bunge North American is planning to build its first new U.S. processing plant in 15 years to meet growing demand for soy products.

The company is considering locations in Ohio and Indiana for the plant, which is expected to go on line by the end of 2019. No cost estimates for the project were disclosed.

Tim Gallagher, executive vice president, Oilseed Value Chain for Bunge, said the company saw a need to expand its footprint in the Eastern U.S. — a key market.

"A state-of-the-art facility in the Eastern Corn Belt that incorporates the latest productivity, safety and sustainability features combined with an increase in overall efficiency of our existing footprint will ensure Bunge can serve growing demand in the Southeastern U.S. feed and export markets," Gallagher said in a statement.

The North American arm of Bunge Ltd., a grain trader and food ingredient maker, is based in St. Louis. Bunge Ltd. (NYSE: BG) posted net income of $790 million on net sales of $43.5 million in 2015.

it looks like the St. Louis business dispatch got the numbers reversed in the last line.
it’s difficult to net $790 million on sales of $43.5 million.

Just yesterday I was explaining to my wife the issue of ethenol in our gas and my hope Trump would do away with the regulation that puts that crap in our gasoline.

I know soy is a viable cash crop product and wondered if we could still pay the farmers for food corn (rather than ethanol).

I'm like most Americans, outside of corn meal, flakes and oil, I don't know what else we use corn for.

Corn and soy aRe in EVERYTHING. From bandages to false teeth. Foods additive in meat I’m allergic to both. It’s horrible.

To add flavor to our pork and beef and chicken, have them eat corn a few weeks before being harvested.

Actually, when George Washington Carver demonstrated late in the 19th Century how to turn peanuts into non-food products, the rush was on to figure out how to use various cash crops for non-food products.

There's now a lot of use of corn and soybeans for in the manufacture of plastics, for one thing. The interiors of many cars are now made with corn and soy-derived plastics in recent years. If Trump would finally legalize the growing of the low to zero THC hemp plant for industrial use in the USA, we could get composite structural materials almost as strong as carbon fiber but with way lower environmental cost in terms of manufacturing, which could lead the way for automobiles meeting the latest safety standards weighing some 300-400 pounds lighter than now.

Yep ... f'got to include that but ... do we import any of our meat or are we eating our own ?

If we're importing, we can make our own from now on.

Grits.

We have plenty of imported KUDZU they can harvest for green fuel. It’s over taken fields, houses, roads, etc. Can’t kill the stuff. Heck we could use all lawn clippings too just bag it up and recycle it.

Soy they can keep, NO THYROID patient should eat soy interferes with the med. They keep bringing me that Ensure crap when I’m in the hospital and it goes back on the tray along with their over salted nasty tasting broth. All those food replacement drinks are soy based.
