If you factor out about a dozen or so neighborhoods Chicago becomes safer than Paris.
So just stay out of:
Austin
Englewood
Pullman
South Shore
Etc

Perhaps an artistic representation of a city map showing the specific areas which are notably unsafe.This one is a little out of date, from a more peaceful time. My dad grew up in Chicago. He lived in the Humboldt Park area, which you can't really see in the map because it is covered over by shooting dots, but look for the H and P. If you move down from there and a bit to the left, you will see where the kidnappers did their dirty work. My dad told me once that I would never survive a walk through his old neighborhood.
