U. Chicago offers $500 for ‘creative ways’ to fight city’s ‘perception of violence’

The University of Chicago’s admissions office is offering an incentive to its student tour guides: Come up with “a creative way to dispel the negative perception'” that the city is unsafe.

The Chicago Maroon obtained a copy of the email Assistant Director of Admissions Colleen Belak had sent out to the guides. The student who provided the message asked to remain anonymous due to a “confidentiality policy.”

In her email, Belak manages to toss in the name of the president-elect:

“If you’ve paid attention to the national news (or Donald Trump’s tweets) over the last few months, you’ll notice that the city of Chicago is often painted with a broad brush as an ‘unsafe’ or ‘scary’ place to reside,” Belak wrote to the campus tour guide listhost.

Perhaps an artistic representation of a city map showing the specific areas which are notably unsafe. This could create a perception, accurate or not, that the rest of the city is safe.

“Perception?” Sounds like denial to me.

Spend the $500 on a ammo & a mass grave to put all the gang members you can find into.

Repeat as necessary.

If you factor out about a dozen or so neighborhoods Chicago becomes safer than Paris.

So just stay out of:

Austin
Englewood
Pullman
South Shore
Etc

You’ll be fine. But do remember your sidearm, just in case.

That sounds like a plan.

Perception? I can do that.

It might cost a little more than $500 for a lot bigger rug.

See, that could easily be done in a graphic display, either to scale or - the better to “perceive” safety - with the dangerous parts small and the safer ones larger.

Turn the 500 into gift certificates for law abiding citizens to purchase handguns.

Oh, so it’s not all the killing that’s the problem for Chicago, it’s the perception of violence.

Liberalism is a mental disease.

Legalize all gang related activity provided gangs wear tutus.

Any gang member not wearing a tutu can be summarily shot by police.

Heck, they’re asking input from snowflakes who feel that the college itself is unsafe. How much more dangerous must the City of Chicago be then?
