Now THIS is “fake news.”
These men were not drafted.
These aged veterans are better educated on our history with Japan, just prior to WWII, than is the writer.
There was a reason or two that Japan feared the USA enough to launch an attack against her. These veterans responded, those who are left, that is. It had to do with Japan’s limited sources of oil to fight a war at all, against anyone. Isn’t that correct?
Indeed, if not for the TEXAS oil find at Spindle Top and elsewhere, a God send to our troops, we might have experienced more of an uneven fight against Germany, who ran out of it, as well as suffered defeat.
Yes that was the bloggers impression and not the words of the White House statement and therefore was not posted as news.
However, I like thousands of other military veterans will and, have already understood that is basically what was meant, considering the actions the occupant of the White House has taken against our military and veterans.
He is, indeed, but I think that the headline really overstates what was said.
Because it belittles America
That is a priority for the mysterious cabal which snuck Obama into the Oval Office
I don’t like what he said, but I think the headline is quite an exaggeration of what he actually said.
I know you may not have been by here for a long, long, long, long time, but the pin on that fellow’s cap made me think of you. :)
I’m with you. Some people want to find outrage where there is no reason for any.
Inviting the Japanese Prime Minister belittles America? How exactly?
Jan 20th can not come soon enough
the nightmare is almost over
Pres. Obama declares Dec. 7, 2016 National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day: ‘I encourage all Americans to observe this solemn day’ - ABC
At first I thought this was about the announcement of the deal with that Japanese bank now that Trump will be president. I know my old man never would have bought a Japanese car. He died 25 years ago, so I’m not sure how he would have felt about the Japanese today; building great cars in America, etc. I know that I’m always amazed at how good our relationships are with Germany and Japan, and the world is a better place because of that. (Mainly due to pushing back against the Russians and China.)
Also, the CEO of Softbank , who wants to invest Billions in America, is Korean and was discriminated against by the Japenese when he emigrated to Japan.
Can we ask the race baitersto get over it?
It adds shine and luster to the glorious and splendid legacy of His Divine Majesty Barackula, the 0bamessiah!
Yes he did say “get over it”
Look at the statement
But Earnest followed up by saying those veterans should **overcome**those feelings for the good of the country.
Overcome means “get over it” - now he probably wasn’t snide about it sure ... but he might as well have said
“these veterans should move on for the good of the country.”
Or
“These veterans should put aside their feelings of disagreement for their fallen compatriots for the good of the country.”
The meaning and the gist is still the same - “I understand how you feel but he’s coming and not apologizing so deal.”
All he had to say was “some veterans will disagree and they’re perfectly right and have justified reasons but we think having him speak in the efforts of unity is good in this time of differences in the pacific theater.”
Except obama doesn’t wanna say that because he loves the Chinese.
