The Obama administration announced its support Thursday for requiring women to register for a military draft a symbolic move in step with the administration's push to fully open the military to women.
"While Secretary [Ash] Carter strongly supports our all-volunteer approach and does not advocate returning to a draft, as he has said in the past, he thinks it makes sense for women to register for selective service just as men must," Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said in a statement to NBC News....

Hey Barry....sign up Malia and Sasha FIRST!! LEAD!!
Malaria first
The only ones liable for any kind of service should be people on welfare. That would cool some jets.
I am so glad I’m too old for this. I’m a girly girl. I don’t do combat.
God made me female and I appreciate it. I enjoy it. It comes with certain benefits, one of them being that I don’t have to go to war. That’s a job for Real Men.
This madness about the Navy changing the names of their ranks to be gender neutral makes me crazy. I don’t want to live in a gender neutral world.
I expect Mad Dog will fix this insanity.
“Fully opening” and draft?
Does not compute.
Think upon it this way: if everyone owed the govt. two years of service after high school, with no exceptions, and in addition to military there is Peace Corps, national health service, etc. that might work. If one refuses to serve, no govt. jobs, no govt. guaranteed loans, no govt. contract work.
There’s something to be said for that. Everyone having to serve their country in some form or another and learn discipline would help restore the character of the nation. Which can only translate to good news from an electoral standpoint. The military doesn’t vote Democrat.
There’s lots of ways to serve. Not all of them involve a gun.
Ala Heinlein, no draft. All volunteers.
But no vote unless you serve at SOMETHING.
THAT would restore the Nations character.
I think that’s a great idea.
I think that’s a great idea.
Cool. I’ll register as long as I can sit at a terminal controlling drone missiles aimed at ISIS/Hezbollah/Hamas and Iranians guarding their nuke facilities.
I got E.T. to phone home on an Atari system. This will be a cakewalk.
I can see military libs telling women, remember when the enemy gang rapes you,it is their culture...Don’t fight back..We don’t want them to get angry...
DON’T Draft Our Daughters.
And don’t make them register for the draft either.
Don’t even think about it.
Worth repeating.

Reportedly, a lot of young women are raped while serving in the Peace Corps, and they are admonished to never talk about it. If word were to get out, young women would be reluctant to serve in the Peace Corps.
Libs.

No, no, a thousand times no!!!
The military is not reform school. And alternative government services are even less so.
As a Marine Officer in the seventies, I had to constantly deal with the criminal behavior of Robert McNamara's "Project 100,000" nitwits and other trash who were directed toward their recruiter by some well-meaning judge.
In classic fashion, 90% of my time was taken up by 10% of my people. They also siphoned resources away from the good people.
The problem was so bad, that the Marine Corps actually abandoned their long-time recruiting motto; The Marine Corps Builds Men, in favor of "We're Looking For a Few Good Men, in the early 70's.
Eventually, the Project 100,000 misfits (Category IV - Low IQ's) were discharged and the Marine Corps raised their recruiting standards.
Today a new recruit must be a high school graduate. And even then, many do not qualify. Last year, 75% of Nevada HS Grads failed to qualify for military service, according to local Las Vegas news reports. And some neighborhoods around the country, have as much as a 75% HS dropout rate.
These are not the kind of people we want in the military. We don't want them. We don't need them. Not at all.
