Trump's Mexican wall a boon for Israeli security company
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune ^ | November 24, 2016 | Isaac Scharf, The Associated Press

YEHUD, Israel — The Israeli company that has built high-tech fences along the country's volatile borders is now trying to build a bridge to the Trump administration — hoping to use its experience to cash in on the president-elect's plan to seal the border with Mexico.

Magal Security Systems has been a major player in building high-tech fences and walls along Israel's volatile northern and southern borders, as well as the massive separation barrier that snakes along the frontier with the West Bank. Its products include cameras, sophisticated sensors, robots and software to operate the systems....

Magal Security Systems

That's a perfect name for the wall system builder. They just need to change it slighty-- El MAGA.

A functional barrier, like the Israelis have deployed, is going to have several components.

Likely there will be multiple barriers (e.g. fence and wall, perhaps a ditch/berm vehicle obstacle) with a “no-mans land” between for sensors and monitoring. This is what Congress previously requested for “Double Barrier” segments of the border.

Such barriers could be installed separately, so the easiest could spread more quickly.

High traffic areas could get the full suite of barriers and monitoring first, making the biggest impact.

Bottom line: A well-designed, well-funded and well-managed wall building effort can transform our border security in one Presidential term.

In the first year, policy and policing will likely make the biggest impact, but after two years, the passive barrier itself will become an increasingly powerful factor.

Some options depending on terrain and density of illegals:

You’re serious about building a wall?

here are the requirements:
- 98% of the wall will be very generic
- rivers and other issues to be dealt with on case by case basis
- all wall segments to be numbered and adhere to requirements when possible
- wall built in 1mi segments; each team to build their section in 1 yr
- wall should be built 1/4+ miles from the actual border to avoid issues
- wall should be 40+ ft tall and 30+ ft wide (2 lanes of traffic plus 10+ feet)
- helicopter should be able to land on top
- 1/8th mile crushed rock both sides
- solar road tiles on top (to power it and other benefits)
- tunnel inside the wall (two lane road)
- exterior wall should be 12-36 inch layered wall materials (concrete, cloth mesh, rebar mesh, etc)
- exterior wall to be very blast resistant
- outer wall to extend underground 5-10 feet
- towers every 2-5 miles on the wall
- baracks every 20-30 miles... 1/8-1/4 mile inside the wall
- major maintence facility every 30+ miles... 1/8-1/4 mile inside the wall
- power, water, and sewage to move thru series of pipes within the wall, under the inner road
- water and waste facility every 25-50 miles
- drone docking station every 1/8 mile on inside wall
- comms system every 1/8 mile inside and outside wall
- cameras every 100ft
- ground sensors, air sniffers, and sound sensors
- network comms up and down the length the of wall
- emergency medical supplies every 1/2 mile

this wall is defensible, difficult to scale, difficult to penetrate, and with enough communications to bring reneforcements to bear wherever needed.

inner external wall would have openings at the top for ventilation. the inner external wall would have openings (doors) to allow traffic flow in/out of the wall every mile (where segments join)

the tunnel inside the wall also allows for the movement of troops and equipment without beng seen by satellite. it would also provide a secure shelter in case of extreme weather

the solar road tiles would generate plenty of power for the wall. it may even have enough to sell back into the grid.

the wall should also have a few types of drones. some that gather info. some that repel invaders. and some that render aid or general transport (supplies/personnel)

the towers should be mini castles allowing forge ability to withstand siege as well as provide comfortable living accommodations for 10+ personnel

the main baracks would provide medical, food, repairs, and lodging for the personnel of the surrounding towers (10-15 towers; 100-150 people). drone and helicopter repairs should be available at the baracks.

wall segments could be manufactured elsewhere and dropped into place, interlocking appropriately.

inner wall roof would be arching for support. roofing pieces could be manufactured elsewhere and dropped into place. roofing solar road tiles would be preinstalled except edging, which would have last row of panels laid down and connected on site.

there would be more in order to be exact, but this would be enough to get an understanding of what we should be producing.

Modern times are so PC. I’d like to see a wall capable of dropping flaming oil on illegals. Computerized crossbows. Moats with mines. Frickin’ laser beams. I mean, let’s really discourage people from trying to cross!

Organized groups will try to build tunnels in order to get through the barriers and evade detection. Israel is building an underground barrier

TALL CONCRETE

Their wall is trash. Democrats will just flip the switch to OFF. Electronics is worthless. Concrete has no off switch.

A real wall has 1 feature:

Tunnels are a real challenge, but only by sophisticated opponents like drug cartels, terrorist groups and nation states. A wall can stop uncontrolled mass migration.

Tunnels can be a hundred feet deep or more - even if you extend the wall down, it can be tunneled through as well.

We would need a strong technology suite to counter tunneling, like acoustic sensors, and patrol vehicles towing ground penetrating radars, comparing the results with prior patrols.

“TALL CONCRETE Their wall is trash.”

I agree that tall concrete is the centerpiece of an effective barrier, but it is not immune to ladders and ropes.

Whatever barriers you have, they need to be monitored, or they can be deliberately breached.

Electronics are a force multiplier that will greatly reduce the lifecycle cost of the barrier system, and improve its effectiveness. A large guard force over the years would cost more than the initial construction. Just motion detecting lights that alarm camera monitors would be huge, letting fewer guards more effectively control the border.

Just like the Democrats could turn the lights out when they are elected, we could rapidly re-establish security later, if we lay in the heavy fortifications during a Trump Presidency (double barrier system, including a tall concrete wall, access/patrol/response road, and electrical/fiber optic utility lines).

While there is a Patriotic Government in place however, electronics are super effective, and getting better. Multiple alarm systems, security cameras, lights, and drones that can monitor for miles on both sides of the barrier can be deployed now, and will get a lot better over time. We could even use automatic countermeasures with an exclusion area, like electrified fences, or the acoustic weapons used to repel pirates.

We would need a strong technology to detect the patterns of illegal movements from those who use tunnels. Our goal is not to stop every single terrorist, the Israeli goal. Our goal is to cut the flow of illegals by at least 95%. Monitor movement near the wall. If dozens of people go into a ditch or a building within a mile south of the wall and don't come out, that's a bad sign. If over time dozens come out of a ditch or a building within a mile north of the wall, that's also a bad sign. Yes, listen and monitor for signs of tunneling, but also watch for signs of tunnels in use.

This was Trump’s signature idea. Not to deliver it would be a disaster.

Over the years, every Liberal I have me says it is not possible. But it is possible.

I believe Trump will present a plan. And away for Mexico tp pay for it. Then it is up to Congress to accept or reject.

This is the formidable wall Saudia Arabia built to keep ISIS out. Liberals are the only people who don’t know how to built walls:
