My dear, dear Oprah, I can't believe the words you've uttered during your recent T. D. Jakes interview. Oprah Joins T.D. Jakes To Discuss Her Thoughts On The Presidential Election
You say..."She's not coming over to (sic) your house." Can you really be that disconnected from reality? Do you really not understand that she will come into people's homes? Every decision she makes, if elected, will invade people's lives and homes. You can come to my house and sit on the porch and we can visit freely there. Forcing yourself into my house, however, unasked even, is a different story. And that ultimately, is what she would be doing.
You can say what you want and I'll listen, but don't ask me to loose my grasp of common sense. You don't rip the bars off your windows as you know a thief could come over, you keep them up to keep that thief out of your house!
Comments welcomed.
She’s not coming over to your house.
No, she sure isn’t. She wouldn’t come to one of Jakes’ typical viewer’s house for any amount of money.
She will, however, keep them in penury, through an increasing flood of cheap labor.
Comment?
Excellent point. One of the reasons for all the anger between sides in this election, in my opinion, is the government has insinuated itself into almost every aspect of our lives. Some of us see this and hate it. Others, for some reason, welcome it. But the fact remains, any conversation about almost any subject can ultimately turn political and causes strife between people who were once friends. It’s incredibly divisive.
Bkmk
Did you, like Oprah, not understand that she will be coming into your house?
No, she sure isnt. She wouldnt come to one of Jakes typical viewers house for any amount of money.
Yes, she sure is. Everything government does comes into your house!
She will, however, keep them in penury, through an increasing flood of cheap labor.
And that very statement proves my contention. That cheap labor is a perfect example of something from the government coming into your house and affecting every American.
Those who welcome government intrusion have not yet been mugged by the gestapo. They are perfectly willing to give up their neighbor because they, well, you know, they pray a lot.
And yet, if we don't have the conversation, even if it does lead to division, how much worse would things be if everybody stayed silent? Wouldn't one side simply ride rough shod over the other because they were too timid to broach the subject?
Should I have kept silent simply because it's >sharp intake of breath< "Oprah" who spoke the words?
Government naturally wants to be God. Some of us see this and are offended by that kind of institutional hubris. Of course, we all want to be God, that's part of our original problem, and so having anyone interfering with our lives is offensive. Some of us will accept a god who mostly agrees with us and is open and inclusive. Some of us have come to know the great God of the universe, having experienced His love and kindness, and are offend by anyone or any institution that pretends to be Him.

I wish Hillary would come to my house, at 3 am, unannounced.
They’ve both been in the tank for her since she came on the scene. TD Jakes is pro-abortion.
Personally, I simply want to be loved by God even though I know I'm not worthy of that love (For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God...).
It would be the height of foolishness to want to be God.
What you're really saying, IMO, is that some people wrongly want to control
others as if they were God. The problem there is free will. Wanting to control
others removes the free will God gives us all.
Without watching the interview (and I’m not going to), I imagine TD Jakes nodded along without questioning this BS.
Another prime example of government forcing its way into someone's home.
Even if you don't like abortion you're forced to accept it through the force of government.
Leep said...I wish Hillary would come to my house, at 3 am, unannounced.
Hillary, or the government in general, doesn't have to come to your house in the dead of night. It boldly marches in during the light of day with or without your consent.
I'm forced to comply with the laws established against my beliefs. I can argue about the laws, but in the end I have to follow them or pay a price for refusing to do so.
Yes, but don’t come over to my house, unannounced, at 3 am.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I completely agree with the sentiment.
Prayer is a great thing, but were also expected, IMO, to act.
edit...we’re
What you've said is not just your opinion.
