I have not watched one game this year, and don’t plan to ever again.

You have to count the running and the throwing by other people as well.
Or else football comes off even worse. 2 seconds of the quarterback throwing and ten minutes of yakking.

Except 99% of the time there’s nothing done by the other people. The vast majority of baseball is waiting for the pitcher and catcher to decide what to throw, most of the time the batter doesn’t touch it, and often even when they do touch it the play ends in just a couple more seconds (foul, caught and out) with not much happening.
The average NFL play takes 8 seconds and 22 players all do something. The average MLB play takes under 2 seconds, and 3 guys do something (although there’s a good chance one of those guys just watch the ball go by). Baseball has its beauty, but that beauty is not in the action.

Sport--------Clock Duration----- Amt of Action------ % of Action
Baseball------- 2hrs 56mins----- 17mins, 58secs -----10.21%
Football------ 3hrs 10mins-------- 11mins------ 5.79%
Basketball----- 2hrs 18mins----- 48mins ------34.78%
Hockey----------- 2hrs 20mins----- 60mins ------42.86%
Baseball has twice as much action time as football.

As I recall, my ticket to Super Bowl IX was around $17. The winning Steelers were paid $15,000 per man. The Vikings, $7,500.
Today’s players wouldn’t leave their house for $15,000, never mind play a game!

Those are fast BB games. They’ve been running closer to 3 1/2 hours in the playoffs, and that’s without the Yankees playing the BoSox.

The statistics are without commercials and without overtime or extra innings.
Yeah, I am sticking with hockey.

Those stats definitely include commercials, without commercials no sport takes 3 hours, as anybody that’s watched minor league anything knows. I love hockey, I’m just saying 50% action in baseball is never gonna happen. And your own chart agrees.
