Thanks for the link. I didn’t know Sowell was ever anything but a conservative. Makes his case even stronger because it is so well-thought.
Glad he is on board with Trump. Sowell is the kind of guy who causes many conservatives to reconsider their positions if they disagree with him. This will sway some of the holdouts.

Useful in what fashion? You could also say that people like to talk about Russell Kirk and his many books ‘but what has he done that is useful?’.
Other than launching the modern conservative movement that ended up electing Ronald Reagan and changing history, probably not much. At least not much that you can easily point to. Intellectual pursuits are often like that.
Now I don’t think I’d equate Thomas Sowell’s impact with Russell Kirk but Sowell isn’t insignificant either. The majority of people running around calling themselves conservatives probably couldn’t tell you who Russell Kirk is. That doesn’t diminish Kirk’s impact on American politics. Something similar goes for Sowell.
