Goldman Sachs Bans Employees from Donating to Trump

Goldman Sachs has enacted a set of rules that bans the firm’s top employees from contributing to certain campaigns, including the Trump-Pence ticket.

The rules kicked in Sept. 1 and will apply only to partners of the firm. The memo detailing the rule change was first reported by Politico. The firm says the rules were meant to remove any implication of so-called “pay to play.” Four years ago, the bank paid $12 million to settle charges that a former Boston-based banker had picked up bond underwriting business in the state while working for and contributing funds to the campaign of a then Massachusetts state treasurer and governor-hopeful, Tim Cahill.

But the people in the Trump campaign are sure to question the timing. That’s because the rules ban donations to politicians running for state or local offices, as well as donations to state officials who are seeking federal office. That makes campaign contributions to the Trump-Pence ticket a no-no. Pence is the current governor of Indiana....

This will be so easy for Trump to turn it to his advantage.

“See? I’ve been saying all along that Hillary is owned by Goldman Sachs.” (or something similar)

Convenient, after giving Cankles $250,000 for 20 minutes of coughing and blather.

The rules that the memo outlines are correct. And from a legal perspective, it is right to ban donations to state officeholders who are running for federal office. So from a purely technical perspective, this policy is in line with what other investment managers have done. HOWEVER. Most other investment managers did this years ago when the “pay to play” laws first came out. That Goldman Sachs is doing this now — instead of 3 years ago when most other firms were doing it— speaks volumes. I wonder if they also are banning donations to New York politicians.

The Cheap Labor Express must be protected.

They have invested millions buying our politicians to leave the borders open and the laws unenforced.
They are not about to allow the citizens to reverse 30 years of bipartisan policy of non-enforcement of immigration laws.

They can only give through the Clinton Foundation.

That way they get a tax deduction

Gee, this has nothing to do with Heidi Cruz pouting like a petulant child as her husband Teddy has been, does it? I wonder.

I know she loves the guy and FLOTUS looked pretty tantalizing to her, but I never thought she’d end up a Cruzlim.

GS is going to make their billions regardless who is POTUS. It matters not to them - just ask Alessio Rastani.

Given that GSachs has paid clinton hundreds of thousands of dollars, will they add her campaign to the list?

Bet that they can still donate to the Clinton Foundation or the Hillary Campaign.

I think your estimate of Mrs. Cruz’s influence at that company is way overblown. She is, at best, in middle management there. If you read the article, the head honcho is a Hillary supporter.

“That’s because the rules ban donations to politicians running for state or local offices, as well as donations to state officials who are seeking federal office.”

That’s very specific, almost as if it were designed to prohibit donations to Trump-Pence.

The problem for Goldman is that they were bailed out by the federal government in the aftermath of the 2008 Economic Collapse.

If they still owe the Feds money from the Bail Out, there could be a conflict of interest.

Considering Goldman Sachs PAID a BRIBE to Hillary and then Wrote it off as a “Business Expense” I would think the IRS would want to question exactly what was the VALUE of the 20 minute Speech Hillary Gave, SHOW ME THE TRANSCRIPT OR GO TO PRISON is what the IRS should be saying, if it has NONE The firm needs to be disbanded and ALL THE PARTNERS BELONG IN PRISON!!!
