Please read the book entitled “The Long Walk” by Slavomir Rawicz. It’s a true story of a trek to freedom.

I’ll also add, for all to read, ‘In My Hands’ by Irene Gut Opdyke.

She is my Polish Heroine 1,000 times over! She was SO brave! SUCH an Angel to My People, when it mattered most!

We’ve led such lives of ease, haven’t we? I’d LIKE to think I could be this brave (Irene or Witold) but hopefully I’ll never need to find out.

I’ve always been drawn to these types of heroes and their stories. Maybe their heroics resonate someplace within my reptilian brain? ;)

What a great story. He truly is a hero.

I have read very little about it, but there were certainly a good number of Polish heroes who stopped the Russian invasion of Poland in 1920. I wonder how far the Red army would have gotten in the early 1920’s if Poland had not stopped them.
Berlin? Paris?
