No. It doesn't matter from where you lifted the image, nor whether a clever cloaking url is used to hide the original publisher, nor whether or not there's a watermark on it. It takes less than 30 seconds to trace and track an image online.

By the way, photographers raise children, pay mortgages, medical insurance and eat from the money they receive for their work. If they're lucky, they get an international company to purchase the image, such as Getty Images, Associated Press, Corbis, Reuters, UPI, or a publisher such as Washington Times, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Daily Mail, etc.

Who took the photo, or created the cartoon or image, who paid money for it and now owns it and who carries the copyright on the photo are the only relevant questions.

Otherwise those who choose to ignore posted copyright restriction rules place Free Republic, LLC at risk of copyright infringement lawsuits, which with today's attorneys' fees of $400+/hr, posting images one doesn't own becomes an unkind and thoughtless action, similar to stealing with the excuse that no one is looking, or worse, because everyone else does it.
