I pointedly disagree. Whatever the globalists thought was in their self-interest, untrammeled immigration contained the seeds of its own destruction, in this case because of radical islam. The issue isn't that globalists have problem with radical islam. It is just that radical islam is so repellent to those whose lives and societies are disrupted by it that it has created a revulsion against the globalist cause.
They had suicidally made a pact with a silent party who, it turns out, they cannot live with.
Do you wonder why governments work to destroy their own people? Are you amazed by the relentless march toward global insolvency? Can you not feel the anger of the nations? Can you really attribute all this to sheer incompetence?
The elite do not live in your petty little world. The globalists are perfectly fine with the present course. In fact, the worse your world gets, the better theirs becomes. That’s sheer potential, my man. They boast as their forefathers, we shall be as gods!
I am not arguing either that it is dead or that it has not been very effective and profitable for those who have embraced it. I merely point out that radical islam was an unanticipated fatal flaw that has opened a gaping chasm across what they thought was an open highway to their idea of Nirvana.

I have argued for the last 8~ years that space colonization will not be driven by people wanting to settle on other planets, but those wishing to escape the tyranny of THIS planet....
