An arbitration court has ordered Israeli-held Trans-Asiatic Oil (TAO) to pay US$1.2 billion to Iran for oil that the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) had delivered to Israel before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the online edition of Israel’s Haaretz reported on Monday.

Lausanne-based Swiss Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Iran in the case which Israel had appealed.

In May 2015, Israel said it was refusing to comply with an order by a Swiss court that it pay US$1.1 billion to NIOC. The complex dispute stems from 1968, when Shah Reza Pahlavi ruled Iran. The Eilat Ashkelon Pipeline Co. (EAPC) was created as a joint venture between TAO and the NIOC to supply Iranian oil to Europe.

Have we charged them for taking our embassy and the people in it hostage?

Israel should bill Iran for the Lebanon incursions.

No problem. Send the check to Reza Pahlavi’s son and heir. He lives in California.

The Shah of Iran being deposed in favor of Ayatollah Khomeini was the start of all the current trouble in the world.

And stupid Jimmuh Carter help change it into a major conflagration.

He let the Shah of Iran into the USA for medical treatment, which prompted the Iranians to take over our embassy and take 52 hostages. Not sure how that could have been handled better but it didn't help that he was perceived as so weak.

Then he tried to rescue them with a military operation that was more designed to rescue his election hopes than anything else. Instead of telling the greatest military in the world “go get them” he micromanaged every detail until they were so under-prepared they crashed and burned (literally) in the desert.

Democrats are ALWAYS getting us into these situations and then Republicans have to fix them. Exactly the opposite of what HilLIARy says (which makes me so mad I can't believe it)

I keep pointing out that a Million people were killed as a result of Jimmy Carter's stupidity.

Jimmy Carter helped undermine the Shah of Iran and worked to destabilize his regime. The fall of the Shah and American indifference to the takeover of Iran by hostile religious kookbags is what prompted Saddam Hussein to launch the Iran/Iraq war.

Had Iran remained a staunch US ally, Saddam would never have attempted to attack Iran.

Again, Jimmy Carter's stupidity is responsible for the deaths of 1 million people. (Casualties from the Iran/Iraq war.)

I like the way you think! At least Reza recognizes Israel's right to exist. Iran doesn't recognize that fact, and has no maps showing Israel on them. So why should a non-entity pay up?

Ditto for the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan - I don’t believe that it would have happened with a very well-armed, strong Iran headed by the pro-US Shah. Iran was slated to become the 2nd largest air force in the Free World by 1981, virtually all of it then ultra-modern aircraft. The Iranian Army would have easily been able to train and arm Afghan rebels against the Soviets (much like Iran armed and trained rebels against us in Iraq), and that would have given Brezhnev and his team pause.

Of course, we know what happened because of Afghanistan...it lead directly to 9/11. A strong Iran would have prevented that, and kept the Arab Moslems in check.

Thanks, Jimmy, you’re going to be remembered about as well as Chamberlain.
